Leash biting

Do any of you have any suggestions as to the best way to handle a puppy that likes to bite and tug on her leash? Molly is 15 weeks old. I am trying to teach her how to walk properly on leash but the biting is getting in the way. I have tried both a regular collar and leash as well as a harness (that can attach in front or in back). I am also supposed to have her on leash for some of our puppy class homework, such as learning to sit and stay as well as the come command. Obviously her infatuation with the leash has gotten in the way of that too. I have tried the bitter apple spray but she doesn't seem to mind the taste! Ignoring her doesn't seem to work either. Thanks for any help you might offer.

Diane

Zelda did this as a young pup when I first introduced a leash and harness in the house. But she stopped the second we started going for walks because she was too excited about other stuff that was better than the leash. Maybe you can get the pup excited about other things like super tasty training treats? Is there anything about the leash you're using that is particularly fun? We use a plain black nylon leash.

I am using a plain nylon leash also. She gets her last set of shots next week so we will be able to start going on walks outside the yard. Maybe this will help.

Manny chewed through his first leash. Bitter apple didn't work so dispite my swearing I'd never do it I put a few drops of Tabasco on his new one. He got uninterested after one taste. I'm using a leather leash now and he'll still put it in his mouth every once in awile but he hasn't chewed this one.
