Thumbs up History of the Forum

Does anyone know the history of the forum? Would love to know how it started and how it grew. Everyone is friendly, nice and informative and what better way to meet than through our love of dogs. Great place to be!

Colleen--from what I know Melissa started this forum in 2006--perhaps August. She does this on a voluntary basis at her own costs. There are a couple others that oversee and keep off offensive material. I joined in 3/2007 and the forum was much smaller than it is now. Many continue to offer there great advice. I have met several great Havanese owners via this site. I will always be thankful to Melissa.

Hi Colleen,
Like Cheryl said, this forum used to be so much smaller you could actually read every single post! lol.. now it has grown huge! You can go back and read the archives.. for example, here is post #1...

Thank you Cheryl and Ryan for sharing the story. I imagine with time the different subjects came to be when more and more joined. Melissa if you read this thank you for putting this all together for it truly is amazing and VERY addicting!!!

Cheryl, I have a hard time keeping up with all the threads too! There are so many!!! I don't even try to read them all....I would be here 24/7!!

Melisa....I have learned so much from everyone. When ever I have a problem I can usually find the answers on here and it's great actually talking to Hav's owners who are going through what I am or already experience it. When the boys had blowing of the coats at the same time I thought I did something majorily wrong and they were going to be bald!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

There's no telling how much $$$ I've saved from reading this forum instead of running to the vet or buying things that wouldn't work or weren't worth the price. Don't know what I'd do without this!

Thanks to Melissa and everyone else who posts such valuable information...and the support given by all of the members is priceless!

Ryan & Cheryl~ I remember those days. It was easy to check in, read through all the threads and still have plenty of time to accomplish what I was suppose to for the day. Looks like those days are gone!

I can't even begin to share just how important this place and the folks here are to me. There is no way I could have ever gotten through Shadow's illness and eventual death without the love, care and support I received here. I have made some wonderful friends as a result of this place. THANK YOU MELISSA for making this possible.

And if that wasn't enough, I was blessed to find my precious little Tori here, too!

We probably would have given Gryff back to the breeder if I hadn't gotten the encouragement I needed from this forum. I was so desperate when I found this site.

Thank you forum!

Thanks for starting this thread Colleen. I can't begin to say how much "the forum" as we say in this house means to me. I have been accused of being part of a cult, I depend on it so...LOL. But I have made some great friend both virtual and in person because of it. And yes, saved money (and spent money) gained peace of mind through difficult times and been thoroughly entertained by Hav topics and non.

Melissa, I too want to thank you and Dawna for creating this wonderful place. I would also love to read, why and how you started the forum and if it has become what you expected it to be.

Hugs and gratitude.
