Eye Stains are making me crazy

Hello All:

My Lilly is 15 months old and the past month her eye stains have become orange and it is making me crazy. The vet said it is because she is getting older. Does anyone have any solution. I've tried Angel Eyes but the only way she will eat it is if I put it on peanut butter bread. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well that's kind of a lame answer provided by your vet.
But I have somewhat the same problem. Ginger just started getting eye stains. No change in diet or water. Thinking of trying Angel Eyes, although I don't like the idea of giving her an antibiotic.

My Lilly had bad eye stains too. I can tell you what worked for me. I feed her Honest Kitchen Keen food exclusively and avoid any treats that have red meat in them. After about a month all of her eye stains are gone. I also clean her eyes with a warm damp paper towel twice a day when I wipe her face after eating and then thoroughly dry her face with a dry paper towel. This is what worked for me. I tried ALOT of other things, such as grain free food, distilled water, eye stain pads, etc. and none of those worked. Lilly is three years old.

We did have a lot of success with Angel Eyes. It got rid of the stains around Chewy's eyes, mouth, and paws. We mixed it with a table spoon of yogurt and she would do tricks to get at the plate.

For me eye staining has always been the food. Mine are on honest kitchen mixed with pinnacle trout and sweet potato kibble and a daily Nu Vet Plus. No red faces or eyes!

I used Angel Eyes for a few months and had very good success. I purchased the soft chews. I would wrap the chew in a little Boursin soft cheese and Scout loved it. I did check with the vet before trying it. The staining cleared and I stopped it months ago.

Please ask your vet about Angel eyes. Ask specific questions about any long term side effects from using Angel eyes. I was talking with my MD, not my vet, she has a bichon, and mentioned Angel Eyes. She politely said in a low voice, she heard it can cause kidney stones. She also told me she knew of a good emergency vet...he removed kidney stones from her bichon.
I don't know anything about AE but thought I would pass on info that might be helpful to make an informed decision since it is an antibiotic and should be used with care.
Also, another good person to ask is your breeder. I plan on asking my vet on our next visit and my breeder.
Hope this helps,
Jeanne

I ordered and have Angels' Eyes Natural which doesn't contain Tylosin or any other type of antibiotic but I haven't used it yet either Here's a thread that Mary replied to about using a buttermilk solution on Tyler with some success.
