Planet Dog

I wanted to share these toys in case anyone is looking for a great toy for chewers... Kubrick and Hitchcock BOTH love their Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff toys. They're great to chew on and the two of them will fight over the same toy all the time (even though we have one for each, LOL!). Plus, their toys smell like MINT (and no I'm not kidding - Kubrick's Orbee ball that is close to a year old still smells like mint), are made of recyclable materials and part of your purchase is donated for dog programs around the country. I just wanted to let everyone know that they're having a 15% off sale through the end of the month on all their products (the code is on the front page but you just enter DD29 at checkout)! It's a pretty good deal and now I'm kicking myself for just having bought some treat-spot toys (they're kong-like) from them less than a week ago. Oh well, at least Kubrick and Hitch are happy!

Here's their website if you're interested:

Also, here are some pics of the two enjoying their Orbee Tuff Bones.

I won a couple of the ones shaped like Christmas lights during the Hav auction in 2007. My girls won't touch them. I don't know if it's the mint scent or if the bulb shape is just too awkward for them. The shape might be meant for larger dogs but even Rumor, the Sheltie, won't play fetch with them. Perhaps I need the small bone shapes like you've got for your boys.

I always find it interesting what some dogs will like and others won't. Kubrick absolutely hated kongs but Hitch loves them. And the Tug-a-Jug that everyone was talking about on here a while ago? Kubrick never figured it out. I wound up giving it away. I do know that the orbee toys are great for them so far - they go back to them over and over again. I wish there was a way to test toys out before buying them... I know Kubrick for one won't play with toys in pet shops but he will once we get home. Maybe we should start a toy swap!

Cool! Lina, what size is the bone in your pics? Great pics too, by the way.

Lina- Is it like a kong where you put something inside it? Mine never chew plastic bones/kongs unless chicken jerky is involved!

Kim, I got the small. Hitchcock also has the one for small puppies and it's about a third of the size of the ones in the pictures.... I found a picture I took a while ago of him next to it so you can see the size. It's a bit small for Kubrick, though he still tried to steal it more than once.

Also, I just thought of this... for those of you whose dogs wouldn't touch the bones, did you try buying the ball? Kubrick loves that ball! It's very light and can bounce like nobody's business. Maybe because I introduced him to the ball first he got used to the mint smell?
