Frappuccino hour

Ok this made me laugh the other day, so I thought I'd share.

some of you starbucks junkies like me know it's 1/2 off frappuccinos from 2-5pm thru may 10th.

so after work, I take Ollie and go to my local Bux for my fix, I leave him outside the store as always.

Some of you may recall he has a trick that he will mimic what you do. and his real growl (even with play) sounds more like the tazmainian devil of looney tunes fame.

So as you can imagine, it's busy in the store, so Ollie waited a while for me, and gives me an enthusiastic greeting when I return. So I return his greeting with my version of his snort and play growl and of course he understands and returns the favor, loudly. Ollie rears up on his hind legs and gives his best snort and play growl back, so cute! there were some high school kids sitting outside, and each time ollie made his snort 'n growl they were like WTF? and literally recoiled, oh I had to laugh, b/c Ollie doesn't have a mean bone in his body and he's just having fun with me.

any misunderstood hav stories out there?

Kodi sounds very fierce when he's playing too.

…And when he's SERIOUSLY growling, you're right, there is no describing it other than "Tazmanian Devil", and there is NO misunderstanding the message. Fortunately, that kind of growl is exceedingly rare.

Toby used to play with DH all the time by barking and growling at him. He was always ON me when I was on the sofa, so DH would walk up to him slowly while staring at him. Toby would start growling (a unique rumble from his chest) and would throw his front paws out and slap them on top of me. Almost like claiming me and the space around me. Even I used to ask DH to stop because he sounded so fierce. The minute DH would "smile" at him, he would stop and beg DH to play some more. It was "Their" thing and so fun to watch. I have a video of them playing like that, I have to download it from my phone one of these days.

Archer's been starting to growl when he plays. He'll do it when he is really excited to play the "paw game", where we kind of keep high fiving hands/paws (keeping the mouth out of it!), and he'll growl a little. It's definitely a play growl! He has also started sometimes barking when we are playing fetch. Usually if he is SOO into it he will bark when he is running to pick it up. The barking is just starting to emerge... now I just need to wait until I find a reliable trigger so I can train "speak" and then "quiet"... anyway so far the play growling and a few barks here or there are cute.

When Sophie has what we used to call a "running fit", where they run around in circles as fast as they can go like they need to expel energy, she always growls the whole time she is running and I've never seen her look happier. It's really cute.

I keep forgetting about that Starbucks special -
Is Ollie with someone or in the car?
I get worried about dogs left alone.

Henry has a loud "voice". Small children think it's a growl and become frightened.
He does it with a little smile and only I seem to know he's an ok dog.

Ollies is never alone, lol. He's got a great stay also, so he plants his butt down and literally doesn't move till I return. he's the same at school, when I'm at work, and have meetings I leave him a populated classroom and the students and teachers always tell me he never moves from the spot where I left him and his eyes are glued to the door.

I bet his snort'n growl will keep people away. People are scared of Osky's noise and it's fine with us!

Oh, Ollie shined me today in front of Bux. when I came out with my frappucino, I gave him a lick of the whipped cream, to show him I could pay him for his tricks. I guess it wasn't enough, because he sat there like he knew nothing.

When I went home, I whipped out the usual treats I use for tricks (natural balance sausages) and wham! he did all of them. no hesitation. bogger!

Ha - these guys are NOT dumb. Mine won't do their tricks either, if the reward isn't sufficient, to their way of thinking. That is impressive the way you describe Ollie staying in place for you! I have been lax in the training department lately. Need to step it up again.
