came home to different dog

We had to leave Lucky for a few days and did so with a wonderful dog/house sitter whom he loves (she does other work for us so he knows her). Since we've been home (she left yesterday) he's been acting very strange-quiet, sleeping a lot, tentative, sad. I'm thinking he must have been a little traumatized by our absence (have only left him for a night before about a year ago) even with such loving care, but does anyone have any experience with this re-entry? He's made a few feeble attempts to play, but seems just to want to rest. Must have been exhausting for him? Sitter said he didn't eat but he slept well...has anyone had this experience and how long does it take to get our cheerful little dog back? Thanks for input and advice.

When I went on vacation, I left both dogs with a friend of mine. They had each other the entire time so I saw no difference when I returned.
However, maybe is like you said, it could have been traumatizing for him. Give him a few days and I am sure he'll be back to normal.

Good luck and keep us posted!

when I went to Thailand for 2 weeks, even though someone was staying at my house (for the dogs) and my usual professional dog walker did her thing, when I returned, my anatolians, both came up to me and put their heads on my for 2-3 minutes. very sweet. Haven't vacationed since I got my 1/2 hav.

THANKS Zury and Jacqueline. We took a long walk and a run in a tennis court off leash and his playful personality seems to be re-emerging. Think he's been tired by it all and his sleeping this morning may have helped . He is however very much staying close and lying across thresholds in the rooms I"m in, so I think it's been harder for him than we thought. He really likes his people to be where they belong. Appreciate your caring.
