what could be going on w/Cash?

The other day DH and I were out walking the boys around the neighborhood We got to a certain point on our usual walk and Cash just dug in his heels and started to haul A** back to the house. He was obviously scared...tail down,..heart racing...WOULDN"T EVEN TAKE A TREAT! We didn't see anything, didn't hear anything... and we don't remember anything ever happening in this local...so we went home and didn't think anything more of it. But today our pet sitter called and said she was worried about Cash and explained the exact same thing...she said it happened last Thursday too but didn't think to mention it (the same we thought it was an isolated incident) til it happened again, Me, DH, and our pet sitter (who I trust completely) are the only people who ever walk the boys, and none of us can think of anything that has happened at that location. It is only that spot. He is fine at the park and fine in the back yard.

What on earth is going on? and what should we do? It's like he see's a ghost there.

Just so you remember how cute he is....

Creepy, it gives me goose bumps. Hope someone has an explanation other than a ghost, cause that's what I would assume.

Missy, I went through the same thing with Tess in the nature center (on the 1 year anniversary of Deb's death - so I was thinking ghost too!). She did the same thing (tail down, hauling a**, heart racing) in the same spot a number of times. I stopped walking in that area for about 3-4 months. We've recently gone back down that path without any problems. I'm thinking that she could smell another animal (deer probably?) that I couldn't smell and it spooked her. Maybe Cash is smelling something unusual?

Missy, I would think Cash is smelling something in that spot that is freaking him out. You know how good a dog's sense of smell is. Or maybe he just senses something not quite right in that spot. Take him a different way for a while and see what happens.

Ahhh, poor little buddy must be freaked out by something. I don't have the answer, but I'm sure someone can shed some light.

I've also had a dog do this when there was something they saw that was not normally there - a new piece of yard art, dead animal, etc.

Is there a house there that could be emitting some kind of sound that you can't hear but that he's sensitive to? Electric fence...mouse guard...that type thing?

That's kind of creepy. I'm guessing a weird smell too...

I'm guessing a weird smell too.

Or, maybe he stepped on something that hurt in that location? A burr, or something sharp?

Or, is there something like a metal grate on the ground there? Lincoln got spooked by one once (it made a loud sound when he stepped on it) and now avoids all metal grates/panels in the sidewalk.

Poor Cash!
