Curious if anyone has an opinion about NEXGARD

This is a new pill for flea and ticks. It is made by the same company who makes Frontline. My vet is offering it. It last for 1 month. It's been in Europe for years I think. My vet said very few side effects and works well with heart guard.

My concern would be that the flea or tick would have to bite the dog to die. Is that the way this works or does it repel the fleas and ticks. Another concern would be that once given the substance would be in the dogs system for a month. What if the dog had done type of reaction to it?

I already decided against it. It takes too long for the ticks to die. I am doing well with the Preventic collars. I use it along with Frontline Plus, but I would like to stop with the frontline and just get a flea product if there is anything.

Do you keep the Preventic collars on all the time or can you take them off and just use them when you think you need them?

You need to keep them on all the time. They work really well considering we hike in the woods all the time. I am also in the deer tick capital of PA. I am looking into Actival. If it is ok, I can just use that along with the tick collar.
