Update on White Horned Owl.

Well it seems that we have our own little eco system going at our house.

We have the white horned owl hanging around. Even picked up our neighbors dog - but the dog escaped with claw marks on his back. The vet was sure it was an owl.

I had noticed hearing something in the attic when I was upstairs and told DH I thought it was a mouse. DD came and visited and said she thought it was a squirrel.

We knew that a place on the edge of our roof was a place we thought birds were getting in but we just thought it was just now and then.

We were leaving the other day and lo and behold a squirrel was sitting on our roof near the small hole on the edge. DH got out and walked towards and the
squirrel ran in our attic......aaaaahhhh.....

We called a wildlife expert - total wildlife control. They came out
and said the birds were nesting in our attic attracting the squirrel which was trying to get the eggs and the owl was coming after the birds and squirrels.

He said we had to move them out and he put metal flashing in all the crooks and cranny openings of our house except two - he then put up some cages over the holes where the birds & squirrel could get out but not back in... you should see the birds on our house trying to find a way in.

He will be back in 48 hours to clean out the inside of our attic and spray a solution where they won't come back... pricey but well worth getting rid of the invasion.

We thought we had bird poop all over our roof because we had the tallest roof line on the block. Just the best attic.

Wow! That's so scary! Glad you were able to find out what it was before they did any damage. That happened at my Aunt's house and the squirrels chewed through an electrical wire. The electrician that came out said they were lucky it didn't cause a fire!

Well, we don't know about the damage on the inside yet. They were
just interested in getting them out. Then the wildlife people will go in our attic and clear out any nests, babies, etc., check out wiring, airconditioning, etc. They will spray something to kill all the scent.

It's kinda sad - all the birds are around the cage wondering what happened to
their home. The momma birds have called out the babies and they are on
our roof.

No sign of the squirrels, yet.

Marie, that's quite an ecosystem. It sounds like the wildlife control has a good plan, and I'm glad that the owl didn't get the neighbor's dog or yours. I hope the owl goes away once the birds and squirrels are out of the attic. If not, is it just something you have to tolerate or will animal control relocate the owl?

Leeann, it sure does make me nervous about Sissy. We go out with her everytime.

Gina, at this point we are just hoping the owl goes away. If not, I don't know if they relocate or not. But I think we are with the right people helping us with this.

Marie, yep, it sounds like they know what they are doing, and I can understand you being nervous about Sissy. I would be, too. Good luck.
