Paige,

I've seen colors that you can order at the vet's office that have a dog's name and phone number on them, so you don't need the tags.

I take off the colors from all of my dogs the minute I get home. We have a completely fenced in yard, so there is no dager of them getting away.

Paige, Glad to hear Nigel is fine, I have known dogs that had choke chains on with horrible results from the same thing. Give Nigel an extra hug from me and Sam.

I have heard of several dogs who has died because their collars get caught on something (even when playing) and choke to death. My pastor lost 2 that way. If you keep a collar on at all times, maybe look in a break-away collar that will release with enough pressure.
Like Julia, I dont keep collars on my dogs when at home. Only when traveling.
But i understand most people need to leave collars on them.

poor Nigel. Glad he is OK. I have seen the named collars as well. I've also seen metal plates you can get attatched to a flat leather collar.

Awwwww..... poor Nigel. I'll bet he was a bit scared. Thanks for the heads up, Paige! I also have a large deck and it could happen to mine. Something for me to look into now.
