Nina Ottosson dog toys

Has anyone tried these? I saw them on an episode of "its me or the dog" and searched all over for them online. They are made in Sweden and are hard to find in the US (there were lots of UK sites that sold them but shipping was ridiculous!) Found a US site that was reasonable, but they are quite pricey as dog toys go. I got the dog "spinny" and the "tornado" (plastic versions) and Baxter loved them both! Google them if you haven't seen them... there are versions on you tube showing dogs use them. Of course, bigger dogs just tend to go crazy with them, but Baxter used his nose and paws to spin the toy to get to the treats. Very cute and kept him busy and using his brain to do it... Hopefully something I can leave for him when we go out and about for short periods that will be something he will look forward to doing. I wish someone in the US would come up with something similar (and more accessible) I haven't seen anything like these toys. She makes a bunch (just google her name to see others.) Dh says I'm at my limit---I got the 2 cheapest ones and he thinks that was more than enough! LOL

Those look neat! Idk if I could shell out that much $$ not knowing whether my dogs would be interested in them or not. Makes these toys I've been eyeing from Fetch Dog look like a bargain! Lol.

Have you ever noticed how there are more interactive toys for cats than dogs? Discrimination tsk tsk lol

I wonder if they would be frustrating or fun...??
Looks like a great idea if they are patient.

Those look like they'd be good to have for when you head out the door, to keep your dog preoccupied while you leave. "Hurry up and leave, Mom!"

rdanielle,
That's funny---I had the purple one with the rope (tug a jug?) And just returned it. Even the size Small was too big for Baxter, and he couldn't get any of the treats out. It was more frustrating than fun. I did find an XS size on Amazon, and wonder if it would work better. Tipping it on it's side doesn't do much to get the treats out and it really has to be filled with lots of stuff for anything to come out. I don't like to fill Bax up (and cut even the smallest treats up for training) so it wasn't the toy for me.

As far as the other 2 being frustrating---not at all---and Baxter isn't *hugely* treat motivated. (He gave up on the tug a jug after about a minute) The spinny is the easier of the 2, but even the tornado which is classified as "hard" was fine---he caught on with our help right away. They walk you through how to introduce the toy to them.... you have to kind of teach them at first, but after 5 minutes he was on his own. He saw it on the table this morning and was climbing up to get to it as soon as he saw it. I left him with it this morning, we'll see if he's tempted enough to play while we're away. If so, hopefully it can be something special I can save for him when we leave....just a little something to look forward to for him.

Another toy I got from the same website (the spinny was $29 and the tornado was about $30--- Then I used a $10 coupon code that paid for shipping.) was this toy on a rope and pole. It's really sturdy, and the kids loved getting Baxter to chase it. I don't want to teach him any "tug of war" games, so I taught the kids to use it in a way where we can reinforce the "drop it" / "take it" commands. They fling it around and he chases it, and they say take it. When he takes it they let him chew on it a while and then say "drop it" and when he drops it they give him a treat. Just one day of playing with it has made such a difference in his listening to this command! This morning, he had my son's stuffed animal in his mouth, and Danny told him to drop it, and immediately he listened! Progress!

I have the purple one with the rope, too. I agree that it's way too big and heavy. Marble couldn't figure it out.

All the other suggestions are great! I always love toys that you can hide treats in!I bookmarked all the sites.
