Angry Petfinder - Bird Dog Pet Rescue

Well we've given up on little Letra from Petfinder. She's STILL listed on there as being with Bird Dog Pet Rescue in Easley, SC but we've e-mailed them 6 different times and left phone messages twice with no reply. I guess we're giving up on them now and will try to find another rescue doggie closer to home. Our vet even sent them a letter of recommendation. We originally requested Letra's brother but he was adopted almost immediately so I then contacted them about Letra. She looked so sad in the photo and it broke my heart. I guess I let my feelings get involved too soon. First thing in the morning and last thing at night before bed my youngest son would ask me to check my e-mail. Oh well...hopefully we'll try again.
Why do I feel so sad over a dog I never even met???

Oh, I feel bad for you. That is odd that they wouldn't respond to you. Keep up hope, the right dog will be coming along.

Ann,
Try not to be too sad. This was just not meant to be. I applied to many many rescues without ever hearing from them before Dugan came along. Some of these rescues are very difficult. I think the major objection they had to me was that we didn't have a fence at the time. But, they could have at least responded to say that if it was the case. The right dog will come along soon.

I applied for a few Petfinder dogs last year who were snapped up before I had a chance and felt the same way with each one. I ended up realizing that for me it was best to buy from a breeder at this time, but ultimately when the one you do rescue comes along and it works out, you'll probably have such a connection that you'll feel like it was meant to be. Had you gotten Letra, you would never have found ...**(insert name here) **

I know, I just worry about the dogs when they seem to be on there for so long. Wish I lived closer to there so I could try to check out the rescue group, seems odd to me that they don't respond at all.

Ann- I sent them an email too and am waiting for a response. Everyone I asked around here (I only have a few dog friends here though but most of them are very active- owning the local dog facilities) have never heard of them. I would check on them but there is no address or anything. Maybe I will put something on craigslist locally. I find it odd cause if you look at their young purebred pups and then you go to the county humane society, you see a complete difference in dogs!
