Camping trip, long coat, what a mess...

Spent the last 4 days hiking and camping in Fundy National Park. It was my first time camping with the 2 dogs. WE had a fantastic time and so did the dogs. We hiked about 20km, the dogs swam in the ocean, rolled in the dirt and mud and were more exhausted than I've ever seen them.

Gemma's coat is a total disaster now! I think I may have to shave her down! I tried to comb it out every night, but our campsite was covered with dirt, sticks, sap, etc and she rolled in it all! I'm not sure if i will ever get her the mats out.

Here are some photos of our adventures, and of Gemma's disaster coat. My boyfriend has taken to calling her "sticky" because of all the sticks that were stuck in her coat! Of course we had lots and lots of twigs and sicks in our sleeping bag as well!

Beautiful! Memories were made with a lot of fun for all. I have to admit the last picture looks like my Maggie after a day in our backyard minus the sap.
Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Ha! Icky, sticky puppy! We took Kodi there a couple of years ago, and did lots of hiking too. He doesn't like going in the water, though, so he didn't get QUITE so gross. I also think he's got less coat than Gemma. I remember that stream, though, with all the little waterfalls! It was SO pretty!!! I'd love to go back there!

Oh dear. Great pictures and she looks like she had a fab time but now the fun begins.

i partially combed her out last night. There is still more to do but she wouldn't tolerate any more. There are a few areas that I'm just going to cut out and a few big globs of sap that I'm going to try and dissolve with oil and then a good bath and see what we are left with after the final blowdry and comb out. Then the big decision; puppy cut before the next camping trip???

Tough work for you on the aftermath, but wow, what great four days for those adorable pups. I'm sure they were in pure joy the entire time!
