Please Post Silly Games We Play

When we are outside and Dexter gets into a good RLH, I tell him to Run, Run, Run....then when he is at the end of the leash waiting....I say Come here, Come here, Come here. It is a wonderful run for Dexter!

Hide and Seek is always good when you have two people because your Havs will never let you out of their sight!

Let's hear about the silly games we play with our Havs to keep them entertained and that tire them out.

My DH plays a game Casper loves....he throws a toy and then when Casper goes to get it to bring it back to him my DH steps into another room and hides so Casper has to look for him to bring back the toy.

He starts out by throwing the toy a few times and having Casper bring it back and then about the 4th time he steps into another room when Casper is getting it...I have seen Casper get so excited trying to find him. You can really see him try to think...where is he, he was just here and he runs to check the other rooms.

Dasher's absolute favorite is hide and seek. It started as a game in one of my performance books to get your dog in obedience okay with you being out of sites (open and utility classes require this). Now it has turned into Dasher's all time favorite game. Dash does a sit or a down stay and I go hide- we change up where we hide all the time. When I am ready for him I yell Dasher come and he tries to find me. Sometimes I wait awhile and other times I jump out and scare him. Not saying this is for everyone as this might frighten some dog but htis was a performance building block we worked on. Dash goes nuts jumping and barking and loving it. He especially goes nuts if he can't find you at first- one time I shut myself in the closet and DH let me know when he was starting to lose interest. I think I have just as much fun as he does Belle doesn't really like the game and Dora loses interest quickly. But not Dash. He gets so excited and then doesnt want to stop!

I have some pink rubber mud gloves that Jackson has been obsessed with from day one. He used to try and bite them off my hand, then he would sneak one if I laid them down and RLH across the yard with it. Now I nonchalantly drop one (on purpose) just so he can sneak it, then I chase him around the yard laughing. It's the only thing I don't make him "drop" and "give" and he knows it. And he only likes it in the yard . . . has no interest in it in the house!

Amanda, we like Hide and Seek, too. I learned that when we were trying to teach Jackson to come. I would hide in our pantry (he could see my feet) and then call him when he was somewhere else in the house. Thanks for the tips on using it for training.

I tell Henry to go get a toy . . . ."Go get Hamburger. Where is Hamburger? Hamburger."
Then he goes and gets it. Sometimes with a bit of prodding but he does get the toy request. Then I get all happy that Hamburger is in the room with us.

We play run, run, ruuuunnnnn. The girls love when I run with them. Bella will bring me her ducky to throw. Zoey really doesn't understand the game fetch but she plays a good game of keep away if she can get the ducky. LOL

Amanda, I thought I was the only loon playing hide and seek with my dogs. They love it. They also like to play chase, me chasing them. Shelby looks like a cartoon character with her feet going a mile a minute, but she's going nowhere. It's so funny to watch her.

Michele- not at all DH and I get a little too into. Tonight, Jim was finding new places and putting himself in the coat closet to get Dasher. The best part, is Dash the way he goes nuts when you really jump out and scare him. He gets so energetic and spins in circles and barks. Belle looks at you like you are an idiot though All depends on the dog!

My husband (who claims that Brody is MY dog. . .) likes to get down on all fours and play "dog" with Brody, which he loves. They chase and "scare" each other, which means Brody RLH up and down the furniture and onto my lap, then jumps off and dashes around the "doggie" on the floor. It's hilarious, and impossible to really describe!

I also play the game of getting the toys with Dexter. Dexter knows "Get the Chicken" "Get the Rabbit" "Get Mr. Blue" "Get the Fox" "Get the Bone" "Get the toy" "Get the Chickie" "Go Eat" "Get a Drink" I am constantly reinforcing what he is playing with so he knows what I am calling the toy.

I love that Dexter knows so many of his toys, Havs sure are smart!
