Question Dogs in the airport

I am picking up my oldest son at the San Francisco airport and would like to take Brutus with me inside to meet him. Can I carry him in or do I need to use his crate. I can't find the info online.

At SFO, I usually use a stroller and throw a blanket over it. You can take him in a carrier (Sherpa) or solid crate definitely, but you may be asked to leave if he is just in your arms.

The domestic terminal at SFO is harder to bring a dog inside, and the international terminal is easier, yet I still use a stroller or carrier to be safe.

According to the Richmond, VA police at their airport last year, it is federal law that a dog can't be "walked" through the airport, but rather must be a crate, sherpa or held. Like Kimberly said, a stroller works too though.

I ended up putting the crate in the car in case I needed it, but was OK carrying him in the airport. Thanks for your help! Brutus enjoyed greeting his oldest brother.

I used to fly Asta from sfo all the time . i used to take him in the sherpa but there were times that flight were delayed and i would take him out and he would sit on my lap . I never had a problem as he was always very well behaved and he never said Boo .. It was never for a long period of time maybe 15 minutes or so ..
I did try to take hm in the first class lounge for Alaska and we were asked to leave . He was in his sherpa and he was not making a peep . The hostess said they have a very strict no dogs policy . I think it has to do with the fact that they serve food ..
Never ceases to amaze me that dogs are not allowed in but little rowdy children with poopie diapers are not a problem .
I 'll never forget the time a woman stopped to change her little girls diaper on my seat and then procceded to go and sit in hers . Tacky !!
I have seen people walk their dogs in the airport but not for far .. just from the gate and out
I think a sherpa is the best bet for SFO or a stroller if you can get the dog to accept being covered .
Palm Springs airport is much better as far as allowing dogs and the security are always making sure the dogs get attention and a cuddle .. Not so at SfO - dogs are tolerated but not embraced ..
