Wink Beamers Vet visit

Beamer had his annual vet wellness visit this Saturday. He did excellent, and the vet did not even seem to upset about his raw diet. Then when I got home I took alook at his report card and had a good laugh.. lol (look at the diet comments)

Oh my, are they serious?!? It's just contradicting when they say he's in excellent condition but his diet should be changed. Probably so that he'd finally need a Vet in addition to his regular check-ups, hehe.

Of course you buy the Hills at the VETs!

Of course he would be "excellent-er" 'iffin he was purchasing his food at the Vets!

Isn't that like A+++, the new grading system!

I just think that's so wrong! I worry about drugs that are prescribed for me and my family, I want to ask if that's the BEST drug or the one they're trying to use so they can win a trip or something from the supplier. I guess Vets will do it too. Makes me mad!!!

You'd better forget all that meat and get out your can opener!
Time for some Dee-lish meat byproducts!

Man, Ryan, that is laughable.... if it weren't so sad!

Well I'm glad you posted that. That way I can look up the ingredients of that kibble, then print out the ingredients of 3 other better ones as well as the analysis by dogfoodanalysis. I'll then give all to the vet and suggest she do some reading up on nutrition.

BTW this is what is in the food they recommend

Quote:
The first ingredient in this food is brewers rice, which is a low quality grain and by-product. This is followed by corn, a difficult to digest grain, which limits its nutritional value for dogs. We consider this to be a low quality ingredient. It is also commonly associated with allergy and skin problems.

This food uses by-products as the sole meat-related ingredient. Chicken by-product meal - a very low quality ingredient. This is defined as "consisting of the ground, rendered, clean parts of the carcass of slaughtered chicken, such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs and intestines, exclusive of feathers, except in such amounts as might occur unavoidable in good processing practice".

Powdered cellulose is further filler - more commonly known as sawdust. Peanut hulls are the ground outer casings of peanuts, and an utter waste product. The use of soy is a further negative. We prefer not to see the use of any form of soy in dog food as this is an ingredient of low quality and commonly causing allergy problems. Soybean Mill Run is the ground hulls (outer shell) of soybeans after the useful bean meat and oil has been extracted. Alongside the sawdust, and zero meat content this food appears more of a means of waste disposal than dog food. We would prefer to see the use of whole eggs rather than egg product in the food.

We note also the use of chemical preservatives - BHA and BHT. These chemicals are either banned or heavily regulated in use in human food due to being carcinogenic.

Chances are if your parents never had kids...you won't either...

Amanda,

Yeah, I was surprised when the vet told me they only do rabbies and the regular boosters every 2 years. I guess they make enough money from pimping the Hill's food that they do not need to sell to many vaccines.. lol
