Smile Hi, I'm new here!

Hi everyone, my name is Debbie and I am new here. My Hav's name is Jammies and she is the sweetest thing. I found out the week that I was getting her that she had a heart murmur. Before you ask, the breeder is standing behind her guarantee. We have become great friends. Anyhow, the closest cardiologist to us (we live in the Pittsburgh area) is at Ohio State University. So my husband, the breeder, myself and Jammies went to Ohio State. To make a long story short, Jammies has 4 things wrong with her heart, the most major one is that she has a hole in her heart and she can not be operated on, even to be spayed. I don't know how long I will have her, but her and I have the strongest bond. The cardiologist said she may live a year or two and he has one dog that has lived to be 5 years old. I have so many people praying for my Jammies.
Back in 2006, within an 8 month period, my Grams, my brother and my mother died. My brother and my mom died 51 days apart. Needless to say, I was a mess. I finally talked my husband into letting me get another dog (we already have a sheltie). I knew that I wanted a Havanese, because my old neighbor had one and I babysat her everyday while my neighbor worked. I already had Jammies name picked out before my husband agreeded to letting me get her. I named her Jammies after my mom (JAnet) and my Grams....thus becoming Jammies. I can't bear the thought of losing her. She is as sweet as can be. We went to visit her brother, Murphy Moe (his mom is the one who lead me to this site) and we had so much fun. I met Murphy's mom on the internet and I was telling her I was getting a Havanese, and after researching them, she got Jammies' brother, Murphy. We have become the best of friends!
Sorry for the length of this, I just wanted to let you know who I am, who Jammies is and to thank you for letting me join this group!
Debbie (Jammies' mamma)

Jammies will be 7 months old on the 14th of this month. You would never know anything is wrong with her by the way she acts. She torments the heck out of our sheltie! LOL

I'm trying to download pictures, but I keep getting an error message. I was able to download her picture when I registered, so you can see her on the members list page under Jammies.

I had trouble loading pics the other day until I re-sized them smaller. there is a link for that at the top right of the home page.

I am new-ish here too, lots of info from great people. I hope she defies all their expectations and will be with you a long time. You are obviously blessed to have her in your life, despite her health issues.

Hi Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear about Jammies, and about all of your losses. I too have had a very hard past few years. I lost my beautiful Sister 4 years ago on April 15th, she was 31 years old. 2 years later, my sister Donna was in a car accident and her spine was crushed. She is now paralyzed from the waist down, she was 31 years old at the time of her accident. Also, both of my Springer Spaniels passed away of old age.
Now, my sweet Lola will be living her life out with a bad hip and leg (they were fractured before we ever got her) - she may still end up needing a femoral hip ostectomy. My fear is that she may be living with a life of pain - but hopefully not - we are doing all we can to get her healthy. Lola's only 11 months old now, so we are really hoping we can get her leg and hip strong so that she doesn't have too much trouble in her life.

My heart goes out to you and Jammies, I'm really glad you found this board because you will definitely get well needed support here. The people are very kind and truly wonderful.

Take care and welcome,
Sandy
