My prior dog only disliked 1 person

My dog was the best, he was outgoing and loved everybody including strangers and other animals. When I would leave he would sit in the window and wait for me. He never barked. However he did not like the paper boy. I have a feeling the paper boy teased him at the window when I wasnt there but no proof of that. Buddy would go crazy when he saw the paper boy. I never got them together in the early stages of the problem which was probably a mistake on my part. Don't know if anybody had that, where your loving doggy just takes a dislike to a certain person or animal.

This time out with George I think I'll invite all visitors (paper, mail etc) in with treats to get off on the right foot.

great idea Mike. Yeah paper boys can be mean. LOL. Sounds like it was a territory thing, especially if you weren't home when he came.

My dear, sweet Gracie (my late English Cocker) loved everyone!!! One day, after my DH had back surgery, the lawn man that DH had hired came to the door. Gracie froze, put her hackles up and growled menacingly. I completely trusted her judgement. Dogs are very good judges of character!

Dogs are good judges

My Murphy loves one and all and has been exposed to hundreds of people because he comes to work every day. As soon as he hears the bell he runs to the front door to greet our customers. One day a man came in and Murphy would not go to him even after the man coaxed him. Murphy just kept backing up and looked scared. I picked Murphy up and made an excuse to the customer and put Murphy in my office. This was the once and only time this has happened. I think Murphy sensed something that made him not trust the man and I went with his instinct.

LOL...I don't know if any dog here could dislike our paperboy. I've never seen him EVER in the 5 years I've lived in this house....they must do their route in the middle of the night...and I am positive they are not getting out of their vehicle...the papers just get tossed on the driveway....in a plastic wrapper...it's WA after all <g>
