Comfortis

The fleas this year are out of control. We're going to treat the yard this weekend but I think I'm going to get Comfortis for the dogs. We used Frontline Plus about 3-4 weeks ago and it was about the same as putting water on the dogs and did nothing.
Has anyone had a problem with it?

The only experience that I have had with Comfortis was with my foster dog HB...he has a terrible flea allergy and it seemed to work well for him.
The rescue said that they've had wonderful results with it and use it on all of their dogs...they've never had any problems.

That's great news, thanks Eva.
I called both of my vets and asked if they had any problems with it. One said they had 2 dogs that threw up after taking it, the other vet said they had one dog that threw up after taking it but that's all and to make sure the dogs have eaten before taking it.

My girls take Comfortis every 5-6 weeks. They don't have any issues with it. My vet said that you can stretch it to every 5-6 weeks because the active ingredients usually last longer than a month. The pharma company advise to give it every month because it's easier to remember.

I believe Salsa's Mom is still using it. I think there was someone else on the forum, which may be easy to figure out via a search.

I just picked up a brochure on this and the only side effects that I recall it stated was vomiting. It sounded like vomiting was pretty common after giving this, but even more in younger pups.

I'd like to learn more about this, but other than the vomiting, I haven't heard/read anything negative on it yet.

I have used it with my german shepherd maggie and I just gave it to Gracie yesterday for the first time. Neither one have thrown up.
I like that you can bathe them and touch them right after giving it!
