Breeders in Michigan?

Does anyone have any breeders in Michigan they recommend? Or ones they recommend to stay away from?

**Edited to add....Please PM if you prefer. Thanks! **

Be sure to read this thread about questions to ask a breeder: http://www.havaneseforum.com/showthread.php?t=16008

You can go to the Havanese Club of America's website to find a list of members who are breeders: http://www.havanese.org/index.php/in...=article&id=69

The HCA also has a list of local clubs at http://www.havanese.org/index.php/ab...52-local-clubs You may want to contact several of them for a list of breeders.

Thank you Starr!

If a breeder isn't listed on the Havanese Club of America's website or a breeder isn't listed in a local club, does that mean it isn't as reputable as a breeder as those that are listed?

I was also hoping maybe some people on this list would have experience with breeders local to me however I know that might not be the case.

No, I wouldn't say this is necessarily so, especially when talking about local clubs. Some local clubs are EXTREMELY stingy about letting people in, and things can get pretty clique-y. I would check out the breeder based on what he or she is doing. I would put more weight into being listed as part of HCA than any local club.

It does NOT mean that they are not reputable because there are many reputable breeders who are not members of the "official" clubs.

You may also want to look at some Canadian breeders, so you may want to look at the Havanese Fanciers of Canada website at : http://www.havanesefanciers.com/hava...vanesebreeders

I may be wrong, but you may find that people will be more open with names of breeders in PM's (private messages) to you instead of posting here.

I know you must be anxious to get your Havanese, but not everyone is on the forum every day.

If anyone would want to PM me any information that would be helpful. I'm still unsure if I want a Havanese. I have an almost 11 year-old Papillon whom I adore and I've also thought about getting another Papillon. I'm definitely not in a hurry and likely won't be adding a new member to our family until next year at the earliest. But I'm am definitely interested in the Havanese and I like to research and look into things before making any decisions. If anyone has an positive feedback about any breeders in the Midwest (especially Michigan or nearby) it would be appreciated.

Thank you Starr and Karen for your replies!
