Using epsom salt for inflammation

Has anyone used epsom salt to ease inflammation? Django had an infection in his anal gland which is gone however thanks to his tail rubbing the area, we are still dealing with inflammation. We saw the vet and the groomer was here yesterday so the area is clean as a whistle. The vet suggested warm compresses in the area and the groomer suggested warm compresses dipped in a tub of epsom salt. She said it would help with the inflammation. Has anyone tried this remedy before on their dogs?

warm compresses work great. I personally have soaked in epsom salts but cannot say I noticed a measurable difference.

doggie ibuprofen would help too, rimadyl or something similar.

When Kodi had some irritated skin last summer because I shaved his tummy too close, the vet recommended cool compresses of Domeboro solution. It comes in small packets from the pharmacy, and is easy to mix up.:
