My Kidget left for the Rainbow Bridge

Hi all

I realized I may have some friends here who donít read the Hav lists at Yahoo. Iím deeply saddened to say that I had to send my beloved Kidget to the angels on Friday. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in early April and although medications helped in the beginning, she was having more bad days than good. On Thursday night, it became increasingly difficult for her to breathe and, seeing her in that condition, I knew I couldnít let her struggle one minute more than necessary. I canít express how deeply her passing hurts. It was the most difficult, heartbreaking decision, but Iím grateful I was able to whisper to Kidget and hold her as she passed. She was a sweetheart who gave the softest kisses and could melt the hardest heart. My little bug was also a scrapper, a tomboy, a spitfire, and a nuisance to her 4-legged mom as soon as the litter hit the ground LOL Shadow and I will miss her desperately, but I know that one day weíll meet again on the other side.

Some people have asked whether the HRI auction will still be held and the answer is ďyesĒ. I think thatís what Kidget would want, so Iím doing it in her honor and in honor of Karen (Grant) Horneís sweet RubyBleu who passed two weeks ago, also from CHF. We are still actively soliciting donations as the event starts in just under three weeks. If you are able to help support us with some donated items, you can find me at l c a s i n o 1 @comcast.net (no spaces).

So sorry, Laura, for your loss. Your story brought back memories, as we lost our beloved Bailey three years ago at the age of 15 from pleural effusion (CHF). Unfortunately, however, I was not there to whisper in his ear, as he was being cared for at an emergency care facility due to collapsing in the morning. They aspirated his chest and he was resting comfortable so they told us we should go home as they were planning on keeping him overnight to have the cardiologist see him the next day. I got a call around 6:00 pm telling me that he had collapsed again and was having difficulty breathing and wanted my permission to put him down. They felt that because it would take us about 20 minutes or so to get there that he couldn't wait as he was struggling and they didn't want him to suffer. We got there as soon as we could and spent time with him, however, I wasn't with him when he actually passed and, to this day, that thought haunts me terribly as he was truly a Momma's boy and I wasn't there for him. They tried to convince me that he was so sick that he wouldn't have known even if I was there, but I don't buy it.

RIP, Kidget. Hope you and Bailey find each other while you are waiting for us.

Mary (miss you, Bailey-1996-2011 and Tyler-1997-2015)

My heart breaks for you. I have a 14 yr. old Pekingese and dread facing the time when I lose her.
