Will your Hav wear boots?

It's winter in the Pacific NW which means rain and storms. I'm considering some boots for Rory.

Does your Hav wear them happily? Are they worth the trouble? Interested to hear from the community.

Emmie received some as gifts but I found them hard to get on and inevitably one of them would fall off on our walks so I gave up.

I broke down last year and tried several boots. We got so much snow!
When my boys screamed in pain due to the salt, I was in a mission! I tried The little latex balloons, ultra paws and muttluks. I hated the muttluks. The ultra paws are good but I like the latex boots the best. They are easy to put on once you get the hang of it. The ultra paws are easy too.

The latex boots are called Pawz. The ultra paw boot is the durable boot. Fred would not walk in the ultra paw boots. The Pawz are more like socks so my dogs prefer them for hikes.

I think they would make sense in areas with a lot of snow, and especially if it's salted, but don't seem worth the trouble just for rain. I've never tried them but was reading up on others' experiences prior to my first winter with Benjamin, and it seemed like a lot of people had trouble with them falling off. Knowing my dog, he would be intent on removing them purposely, so even if it snows, the heck with it! Rory is probably much better behaved, however, and seems to enjoy clothing, so YMMV.

Linda the Pawzs are a good price. I just made some but I wouldn't make any money at that price. Mine are homemade looking . The bottom has the skid proof stuff used for baby PJ"S What do you think? Maddie could chase her ball . They wouldn't be good for mud. I was thinking more snow and really cold weather. And a bit higher price more like $22.00 .

Suzi,
You are coming up with some awesome ideas!! I think they look great and they are a good price. They don't look too heavy or cumbersome.

Don't compare yours to the Pawz. The ones you made will last much longer. The Pawz are disposable. They last for several walks but eventually get holes in them. Fred just won't walk in anything else. Scudder with wear his ultra paw boots but has a harder time walking in them than the Pawz. Bella's Ultra paw boots wouldn't stay on so i gave them away. She has skinny legs so the orange Pawz stay on her feet well.

Keep up the good work! You designs look great

Another solution to salt - if you can't use boots - is MUSHERS SECRET which you can get on Amazon. It's a waxy cream which you rub into the paw pads and it keeps salt off the feet. It doesn't get on furniture or carpets and is good for moisturizing their paw pads too.

I know several sled dog people and they all use Pawz. It sounds like it's like keeping their hair up. In the beginning they complain and pull them off, then they realize how much more comfortable they are and leave them alone!
