The flying leap

Does anyone else's Hav do this?

When Pepper is chasing April, every time he crosses over the curbing around the lawn or the line between concrete and sandstone he LEAPS into the air like he's jumping a hurdle.

It's hilarious and totally adorable.

He does this indoors too, when he's running from one floor type to another.

We have one out of twelve that does it. Our pack loves a mass game of fetch the ball. Belle does a Superman leap every time over the transition from the concrete pavers to the grass.

Oh yes! Isn't it so much fun to see? I just love when Ricky leaps like that! He'll leap over the step on the deck, off the couches and off the curb too. Sammy does a leap type of running sometimes which is the cutest thing.

More entertaining than t.v. I tell ya......

Yes, Martha is the funniest. She loves to tear through the house at lightning speed and then does a leap through the air in the hallway when she crosses the little spot where our baby gate is set up as if it was some huge hurdle. It's adorable.

I thought all the Havanese dogs did leaps? Casper does a big leap, he started doing it while playing frisbee. We would throw the frisbee down a small slope and at the end he would leap. We love it, it is soooo cute. It always makes us laugh and smile. Now he leaps when running fast. If you look at my picture here of Casper, he is doing one of his leaps in this picture.

A new thing he did this weekend; we took him to a large park area and there was some birds flying low to the ground (about 2-3 ft above the ground) he started chasing them running really fast and leaping every once in a while. I was wondering if when he leaps he is trying to get the bird? I thought I read some place the Havanese dog was once used to herd flocks of birds? I am not sure of that.

I also thought that all Havanese do the flying leaps. Bugsy was only 13 weeks old when he did his first flying leap off our couch. I though it was the cutest thing I've ever seen. He aslo does them in the park when chasing my standrd poodles, it's quite a site, unfortunately I haven't been able to capture that immage. I am either too late or too early....sigh. I guess I really need to look into buying an SLR.

Maybe that could be one of the monthly photo challenges - taking a picture of our dogs flying leaps?

Boy I really need to get a better camera so I can get some leaping photos.
Don't you just love the way they all smile when they are running & playing.
