Longtime Members

I would like to put out an invitation to some of our longtime members that haven't posted in a while. Please chime in and let us know how you're doing. I know the forum dates back to 2006 and we've had 12032 members 99 percent of which are no longer active. Geeeze these dogs have become popular in the last nine years . Hope all of you "older" members and your dogs are doing well.

I am here Dave. I check back in every once in a while. Rosie is doing great, Her coat is getting darker, but she is the same sweet child of mine. Mostly I do facebook. It is easier to post to and I don't have to remember a password, etc. And instead of answering one can just "like" that comment. Works better for me. I leave it up to the rest of you to answer the questions from the newbies.

Personally, I am doing fine--just had my 70th birthday. Still working but I do it all at home now, since I rarely drive anymore. Have trouble with my vision.

Unfortunately, those of us who are not on Facebook don't get to hear from the longtime members. I agree, Dave, that it would be nice to know that they are still with us.

I'm a medium time member but only post intermittently. Good idea, Dave, to send out the invite to the long timers. It's interesting to read some of the really old threads, and to realize that I've never heard of some of those folks. I get it, though, "the internet" can be majorly time consuming, and we have to make our choices as to how to divvy it up. I do check in with the Facebook Havanese group from time to time, but find it a bit overwhelming. There are so many posts, and I feel that the ones on here are more substantive, in general. I enjoy "cute puppy" comments as much as anyone, but need a little "meat" as well. (No offense to vegetarians, I meant "substance"). Also to be honest FB tends to have a bit too much religiousity for my tastes. No offense to religion, either, i just prefer that people be a bit more low key about it. That's just my take on it. Anyhoo... with any luck I'll be kicking around on here long enough to become a longtimer some day!

But... I forgot to mention, I do like the "like" option on FB. I agree with Lucille, sometimes I very much LIKE what someone has said, but it would seem silly to do a post just to say "I like what you said", if I don't have anything to add. A "like" button on here would be awesome! Also, I never have to remember a password to get on HF, it is saved in the system, but don't remember how I did it.

Hi everyone,
I don't get on frequently, but I do check in from time to time. I think I am one of the real old timers. I joined the forum in 2006, I believe. My havs are wonderful! Brady is now 8 years old, Cassie is 7 years old, and Dugan is 6 years old. In February, we welcomed our 4th havanese into our home. Devon is a 3 year old cutie pie! He is a hav who we have watched in our home since he was a puppy. The owner was not able to keep him and asked us to help her find him a new home. He had some issues and was neglected. He also has a history of some fear aggression. So, we decided to have him stay with us and work with him until we could find him a new home. My husband decided after a week that he would be staying! We love him to pieces! We have fostered 9 dogs with Havanese Rescue and only failed with our first, Cassie, but since Devon wasn't through a rescue and we had a history with him, we couldn't help ourselves. So, here are a few recent pictures of the kids. The first picture is Devon. The second is Cassie. The third is Brady (showing off his belly). And the forth is Dugan (showing off his belly).
