Honestly, nothing much surprises me any more when it comes to dumb; I think there is a great lack of even basic science education that might alert people to a modicum of understanding of the very basics of genetics, and perhaps make them consider that a good breeder might have done some homework. It seems to be a kind of game to some people, the idea of getting Fluffy together with some other Fluffy and making little Fluffballs. I'm not sure some people even think of Fluffy as being a living creature with a complicated genome. The world is full of amateurishness and an ignorance of, or even disdain for expertise. Ignorance is fine - we are all ignorant of all sorts of subjects outside our own realms - as long as, should you want to venture into a massively complex subject such as breeding, you have the good manners to acknowledge your ignorance and either do some serious learning or keep out of territory in which your ignorance could cause untold damage.
