Belly Band question

I'm absolutely done. If I don't buy belly bands for Milo I'm going to have to rehome him. He lifts his leg on any package, bin, bag, piece of furniture in the house. I don't know whether he and Bailey are going through a dominance thing right now but I am rapidly losing patience. I can't see myself living the rest of my days with a disgusting house that even I don't want to come home to.

I found some that look really nice and look as if they'd cover the problem (if you catch my drift) very well. I'm not sure what size to get and would appreciate anyone's experience in this arena. Here's the link http://www.kennelkomforts.net/Mercha...egory_Code=BB2

I need to order before he becomes an outside dog.

Geri,
What a discouraging situation for you! I really feel for you--I'd not be willing to live with that, either. I have no advice, but really like the site that you found. Those look like they'd be the best for staying in place and doing the job!

Was Milo older when you got him? Anything different that you can think of? I ask, because of gathering info to keep in mind for when I eventually DO add a second dog to my house.

In the meantime, you have my sympathy!

Geri, whenever I'm visiting someone, I use a belly band on Cody. Here's where I ordered them from: http://www.pekeatzurescue.com/bellybands.htm.

Cody weighs 15-17 pounds, is about 17-18 inches around at the belly. I got the belly band that is about 24 inches long.

Looking at their site again, I'll bet a got the medium. Doesn't quite fit the measurements they have but I wouldn't have gone with the small or the large for him.

He was older (5 1/2 months) with lots of potty issues from the start. I can't blame it all on him though since three weeks after I got him I wound up in the hospital and had other people looking after him for a couple of weeks and they totally didn't keep up on the potty training. After that it took me a long time to get well and there wasn't enough consistency in his life. Bailey, on the other hand, was trained so quickly that I was astounded. He always liked to be clean and it was a pleasure. I'm very concerned though that Milo's behavior will rub off on Bailey.

Jill thanks. I'm going to order some for him later today. How many should I have on hand would you think? Also, the sanitary pads, would the light day type work or do I need heavy duty?

If you are handy with a sewing machine, you can make your own belly bands for the dogs.

Geri...send Milo to me and I will send you daily pictures!!

I know someone that bought a pack of grey men's tube socks and puts a pad inside and pins then on with large safety pins. Cicero marks some outside, but I couldn't handle it if he started inside -- he would be in the crate and back at square one.

Geri, I just lucked out with the best belly band maker ever, artlan59 on eBay. Many of their auctions are belly bands in lots of 5, for under $15 and are top notch quality. I haven't seen belly bands this nice nor at such a reasonable price since the last woman that I contracted to make bands for me. (She has since passed away.) These are also tapered, being the most wide at the penile area and narrower at the velcro on the top.

Here is a link to their ebay store: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/artlan...dkw=&_osacat=0

Great quality, excellent price and fast delivery. You can't ask for better than that. A lot of 5 is great too, because you can keep one in different rooms and still be able to wash a couple while you have some available. On their auction listings, they are very clear on the measurements and how it will fit Milo. Just take a measuring tape (or a string and then stretch it out to a ruler or yardstick) and measure around his torso, covering his penis. That will give you the width you need to find the belly band that will fit him. (The full length of the band will be longer to accomodate the velcro.)

Geri, just get some of the thin regular-sized sanitary pads to go in the belly band-no wings. They work fine. I had three or four belly bands that I made when Jackson was here and that was plenty, but he did not mark when he was wearing the band after the first day or two, except when someone would forget and let him outside with it on. He quickly adjusted to us taking it off when he went outside and putting it back on when he came back in. I really hope this helps for Milo. This is a really frustrating problem.
