Working on Long Distance Recall

Amazing what Chicken does to Dexter. We called Dexter back and back from the front yard to the back yard. Also, trying to practice on Emergency Downs.

Dexter got lots of exercise running with our long distance recalls!

How are everyone else doing on recalls? Emergency Downs?

I would have to start before I can comment! My husband and I were just talking about training over the weekend, we need to get busy!

Tori's recall is great! She never lets me get too far away, so the long distance part is not easy to practice. We've been practicing down on recall for about a month now (however, not very faithfully) indoors. She kinda "gets" it but, is far from reliable. My biggest downfall is not practicing often enough w/distractions.

right on , just introduce distractions slowly to more and more difficult .

I have started Dexter with the "no leash", just a little with the long leash dangling only because Dexter cannot let us out of his sight and much prefers to be with us at all times.

With the running back and forth...it is no leash, but Dexter knows we have something really good, so I know Dexter will be very close by us.

It is almost a trust issue.
