The sad thing is that many good homes will not even be considered. I fall into every criteria except that my daughter is 9, not 12. She is actually one of the best children around animals I know. She has trained her cat to come, sit, sit up pretty, and speak on command. She is so good with animals, but their inflexible rules would never allow me to adopt this puppy. I have had lots of experience with blind dogs too. I am not writing because I necessarily was planning on adopting this dog, but the fact is there is no leniency in many rescue organizations which eliminates many good potential homes. That is sad to me.
I do not want to come across as negative because I know the intent of the rules. I just wish there would be exceptions made in cases where homes are hard to find.
