Are haveneese show offs?

Just wondering if it is me or my hav is really enjoying showing off?
She gets up on the back of the couch and it's like look at me look at me!!
Is she showing off?
And when I take her for walks she seems to like to parade around in front
of others to show off and loves the attention.
Does your hav show off?

I have a show off. I never let him get on the back of the couch though, so I dont see that, but he is a show off on the streets and in dog training. He has a natural bouncy walk no matter what but if someone compliments him he goes into another gear with it. It is quite cute.

I am beginning to think that they are! Exhibit 1: Kipper has been very "emo" lately and will not do some of his tricks, even with certain high value treats. My husband took him to his office last Friday and he said he was doing "Dream" - one of his tricks - for everyone there without him asking him to!
Exhibit 2: I give him a Kong toy when I leave him at home to go to work. Sometimes I come home and the toy is still full. He has not touched it. As soon as I get home he starts playing with it and flinging it around like "Watch this, human! I'm so cute and entertaining!" Which he is

Havanese are naturally playful and they LOVE praise and pleasing their owners. So anything you react positively to, they are likely to repeat.

Be careful with this tough! If they do something that is A little naughty, but a little funny too (like climbing up somewhere they don't belong) if you laugh at them, they are MUCH more likely to repeat the behavior to get you to laugh again!

yes I correct her for getting on the back of the couch.
Whether you let her get on the back of the couch or not is COMPLETELY up to you! I know lots of people who don't mind. Other people don't want their dogs on the furniture at all. The point is that it should be YOUR decision whether you want to let them do something or not, and once you have made a "rule", you need to be consistent about enforcing it.

We don't have any couch backs that would be convenient or interesting to Kodi, but he is welcome to join us on any of the couches, and he is allowed up there on his own too. BUT, he knows he will get shooed off if there is any wildness, scratching or digging on furniture!

I am allowed on either of the two sofas in the den, either with someone or by myself. HOWEVER........I must stay on mi personal afghan throw on one couch or the other. If the throw is not in place, I know that sofa is off limits for the time being. I am not allowed on the furniture in the living room, but sometimes I sneak onto the wing chair near the front window so I can see who is outside (We got company, YIPPEE!) and I have been busted on many more than one occasion! Life is tough for us poor little doggies.
