Cool Do your havies prefer to sleep together or separately?

Daisy's been an "only dog" and we will be bringing home her little brother from this year's litter (same parents) in a few more weeks. Daisy sleeps in our bedroom, in an ex-pen with a crate in it (door opened). We covered the top and 3 sides of the crate with a blanket in the winter and she seems to love her little "den".

But when my daughter's havie is here, the two curl up together (when they finally wear out after lots of RLH).

So my question is: Do I buy another same-size crate (18 x 24) for our new puppy or buy a larger crate for them to share??

I hate to have two crates side-by-side with one empty and both havies cramming into the other one so they can curl up together....

What do you think??

When we brought Murphy home we originally had both of them in crates next to each other and I covered them with a bath sheet so they could still see each other. Then we decided to let Scooter sleep in a doggie bed next to Murphy's crate. Works great for us and often we notice them lying nose to nose. We tell them to "go night-night" and they both go to their beds.

When they arer younger they sleep in there crates until we trust them. The dogs all sleep in our room with us. Jillee sleeps in bed with us,Ginger starts out in bed then goes to the floor and Lizzie sleeps on the floor. They all have there beds that they sleep on. I like them sleeping with us....thats where Betzie slept cuddled up next to me.

Brady and Dugan have seperate crates (although we are in the process of eliminating them). Brady and Dugan do not cuddle with each other. They play, wrestle and have a great time together, but they are not ones for curling up with each other. I think it really depends on the individual dogs.

Here's a photo of our dog beds. We close our bedroom door at night so Scooter can't leave the room. (And it keeps the kids out! )

Mike is afraid we'd roll over on Daisy. I am afraid we'd TRIP over her if we got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom.... that's why we've got the ex-pen around her crate. She always needs to follow me no matter WHERE I'm headed! LOL

Maybe I'll see if I can borrow a crate from someone in the family and see if they use one crate or two.....

Daisy seems to like the "den" with the blanket over her crate....even in the summertime. I plan to re-do our bedroom and put own a sheet of vinyl over the carpeting....hmmm, maybe I'd better get that done before the new puppy comes....

I bought an inexpensive bath matt at Walmart that closely matched our carpet for under the crate. Since it's rubber backed any accidents won't leak through and it's washable.

I don't usually get up during the night but DH does and he shuffles his feet if he can't see! He's worried he'll step on Scooter but it hasn't happened yet.

My boys most definately like their own beds in different parts of the room. Jasper loves his crate and Cash likes a bed--ours or his own on the floor.

My guys all like to sleep in their own places. Very rarely do they ever sleep touching each other. Even in bed with us at night, all three have their own favorite spots on the bed, away from each other. When I fostered Madeline, she too had her own spot - as much as I think she would have loved to snuggle with a pup, my guys just dont like that.

My boys have separate crates, but next to each other. They rarely curl up and touch. They sleep near one another. The other day I caught them both in their day bed together and was shocked, it's so rare.
