How Many Forum Registered Therapy dogs???

This Saturday, I'm helping with the Delta Society Testing for new Pet Partner teams. It will be interesting to see if any Havs are being tested.
Cali and Chico are the only ones in in National Capital Therapy Dogs Inc. group. And in the READ program.

So, I'm just wondering how many forum Havs are registered therapy dogs, i.e. having passed some type of testing with TDI or Delta, or other groups.

Could you all just post if your dogs are registered in any groups, and name the group?

Dasher is new and active with SCDogs which is probably the coolest program I have been with thus far. They have about 20-30 different visits each month so you really can find what you and your dog enjoy the most and they do a lot of special one time visits that are more fun. Dora passed the testing at around age 2 but gets too stressed on visits so we haven't used it. Maybe we will try it again but she is my therapy dog for having Isabelle (TDIs on both). Belle, my maltese has TDI and Delta too from the different places we have lived.

Thinking of adding a Neezer, check out this thread!

Maddie is certified therapy dog through ARF. They require CGC certification plus a further therapy evaluation. We do at least one therapy activity a week, sometimes as many as 2 or 3. Their "Read to Rover" program has just ended their last session and won't start again until Sept. when school resumes. That's Maddie's favorite activity. She has her reading "blankie" and knows just what to do when I put it on the floor. We also do routine Alzheimers and skilled nursing visits. ARF has a ton of facilities for us to choose from, so there's never a lack of work. In addition to facility work, we often have teams go out with the adoption vans to draw people in. They come to pet the therapy dogs, and then are encouraged to visit the rescued animals up for adoption. We've also gone to the University of California for mental health day. Students under stress spend time with the therapy dogs prior to their mental health evaluation. There are so many needs and unfortunately, not enough dogs to go around.

Tori and I are waiting for her official paperwork from TDI. She passed her test in May. We aren't officially connected w/a group, yet.

Pepper passed his CGC at 1 yr and we could do therapy work through the Seattle Humane Society. Currently we just go to my mom-in-law's nursing home. He loves to strut through and people there like to see him. He doesn't enjoy petting (yet?) though, so all they get is a finger stiff when they put their hands down from their wheel chairs. Still, it makes them smile and they like to share stories of their own pets. Guess you'd call us an odd but useful visting team (:

Please explain the different groups and what they do?

Many different organizations and many different testing styles. What do they stand for, where are they located?

I'm in Southern California. Mine have passed CGC...Canine Good Citizen for those who don't know what the initials mean as I didn't initially. I'd like to have lots of options. I've seen the Delta Society around here but their testing seems far away. What else can I choose from?

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

Does anyone who has a therapy dog worry about them spreading to patients or carrying home diseases?
