rain

Hi to everyone.
I guess I will have to put a coat on my little girl to take her out to potty. I have tried an umbrella but it distracts her. I started giving her treats when she goes outside . She does seem to be able to wait a little longer to go out. Thank goodness. She seems to be getting the idea. A few times she has run down to the back door to be let out. Telling us she needs out.
Are most harnesses farely quiet? sugar rarely barks and when she does it is very soft.
i am learning that she is very sensitive and if I get excitedexcited bc she is about to potty in the house she will run the other way. Poor thing. I think the PPL she was with before were hurting her.

Our Ollie doesn't like walking on rainy stones. He will walk under the eaves against the house where the rain doesn't hit. Go potty, then walk backward towards the door instead of turning around so his feet don't touch the wet. It is really funny to watch. He also just sits at the back door when he needs out, never saying anything, just waiting for someone to finally notice. It must be a Hav thing. The weird thing though, he loves snow.

That's cute. I still don't know how to get Sugar to tell me she has to go out. I have had her for 2 weeks. She is 10 mo. It is discouraging. I have always had big dogs they weren't this hard to potty train.

Havs really respond to extreme praise. When you take her out and she goes, act like she just won the lottery, huge praise and make a fuss over her giving her the treat saying good girl all the way back into the house. Have her on a leash the whole time and have a command word you use every time you get her to the area you want her to use. I tell Ollie go whiz and he goes on command now. It's great.

Kodi is almost 6, and we call him the "sugar dog". (i.e. he thinks he will melt if he goes out in the rain. All he has learned in 6 years is that he can hold it a REALLY LONG TIME waiting for a break in the rain. . Fortunately, he will pee in his litter box, so that's not a problem. But Poop? He'll put it off for 24 hours if he has to. Beyond that, he has to weigh it out. If the rain lightens up, he'll go out QUICK and poop. If the rain is still very heavy, he will mutter and complain and FINALLY give in and use his box!
