My first attempt at Bathing, Grooming & Trimming Daisy

I know all my new friends here won't laugh so I decided to show you my lame attempt at grooming. I made a bit of a mess, and I got as wet as she did and we are both exhausted. BUT she smells pretty and you can see her face now. (And her butt is clean & trimmed). I always said I would never have a dog who's butt I had to wipe and here I am washing & trimming the hair around it. She is so worth it

Ive been trying to do Sheba myself because Ive read so many groomer horror stories on this forum. But her hair is so thick and she is still so wiggly. it's hard.

She is very wiggly. I have been brushing her all the time already though & tried a few tricks. I put her up on the washing machine because hopefully she won't jump from that height, and I put a non slip mat down. But of course I never turn my back for a second! I fill her kong to keep her busy.

I trimmed her face and feet and butt. Her hair was completely hiding her face, especially her eyes.

I don't want to take her to a groomer because of all the horror stories too! I don't really care what she looks like as long as she can see and is clean & healthy. I just kept telling myself her hair will grow back if I mess it up.

Thanks Evelyn! It's a little embarrassing to show my grooming job next to Whimsy....she is so perfect and beautiful. Thanks for the encouragement though

I think you did a great job… ESPECIALLY on a wiggly puppy! I bet even Whimsy wiggled when she was a pup!

I have to say that my grooming became MUCH easier when I attached a grooming loop to the underside of the cabinet above my washer and dryer to be my "extra hand" during grooming.

Since then, my husband was nice enough to give me a very nice complete grooming station for Christmas. This became necessary after we remodeled our downstairs, which included stacking the washer and dryer to put a shower in the that bathroom. No more convenient grooming space! But I have to say, the washer/dryer grooming station was perfect. It was a great height, and very convenient. Now I have to take him up stair to the spare bedroom to groom him. It IS nice to have all my tools in one place, though, and the whole set-up (table, stool and tool caddy) was only $200 at PetEdge. I already had the grooming arm, but you would have to buy that separately.

Oh! Another tip… I've found that the very best mats for grooming are the memory foam, microfiber bath mats at Bed Bath and beyond. They are non-slip, comfy for them to sit on, wick water out of their coat as you dry them, and launder beautifully. I use them as crate pads too!

Daisy and Sheba look great! That is a very nice grooming station Karen. I have found that sitting really helps when brushing and combing the underside of Scout.
