Cow Hooves...tell me what you know?

I just got the boys unfilled cow hooves as a bully alternative as they have 0 calories. They are sitting there knawing away happy as a clam. Does anyone have any experiece? are they digestable...will they splinter... of course I will watch them when they have them...but wondering if any one else has any experience.

Oh wait....they stink once they've chewed a bit. I wonder if moo has grass fed hooves?

Missy, I keep tons of cow hooves around for the boys. They last forever! The boys like them and will just grab one here and there and start chewing it. I actally keep them in a basket for them. They do stink though, some more than others. I have never had any problems with splintering or anything. They really don't get peices off, so I don't think you need to worry about digesting them or anything. I got them Antlerz recently and they are nice too (but pricey). They have them for sale in the HRI store. They also last forever and do not smell. The boys like them too.

Karen, we have tried the antlerz... I love them as they do not smell...the boys are hit or miss... some they love and some they don't. But they are very content with the hooves...not sure I can stand the smell though... you would think if moo bully's are oderless their hoove's would be... I will have to investigate.

Missy, some do smell more than others. Every now and then, I get one or two that go directly into the trash. I can't take the smell and I have to take them away and throw them out. If the ones you are using are that bad, try another brand or even just another batch. They all smell, but some are just unbearable!

Tucker loves them, but I can't handle the smell of any I've gotten. If they were only outdoors they'd work here, but Tucker isn't outdoors and bored.

I thought dogs could break their teeth on these. But, maybe the smaller dogs don't chew as hard as my bigger terrier mix. So, maybe it depends on the dog and how hard they chew / chomp down???

I gave Lincoln cow hooves when he was a puppy.

I couldn't take the "hoof breath" in the end!
Also, he is such a STRONG chewer, he was cracking little pieces off the edges of the hoof. I was concerned he might crack a tooth or get hurt on a sharp piece.

I think if your boys aren't aggressive chewers, it should be fine.

LOL. I threw them out! 2 bucks down the drain. My boys are very aggressive chewers so perhaps it is for the best.

I've never bought them but wondered, now that I know they smell I'm not buying them. My guys love the Antlerz and we've bought a cheaper brand that doesn't last as long so we'll be going back to the brand name. They don't like them if they're big though.
