The print version will be mailed in less than two weeks. It is at the Printers now. We publish The Havanese Breed magazine for everyone who shares their life and love with a Havanese. IN THIS ISSUE Issue #31 of The Havanese Breed magazine takes us into our 6th year in publication. I hope you all continue to enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy putting it together. Again, for those with an annual e-subscription it is available for downloading now at www.havanesebreed.com/pdf. If you would like to purchase a subscription or order a single electronic version issue of the magazine, order it now on this page: http://www.havanesebreed.com/subscribe/. All back issues are available at any time. Use this link to place your order: http://www.havanesebreed.com/past-issues/. In issue #31 we have the following articles: Get Outta Town by Gillian Ridgeway who discusses all those things to consider when taking your dog with you on a journey. Be prepared. Then we have the second part of an article from Andrea Akkad and the Havanese Club of Great Britain with their own coverage of this year’s Cruft’s and the first Championship Certificates awarded to a Havanese in the UK. This year’s Best of Breed winner is featured on our cover. Temperament by Dave Thorpe is a thought provoking article on that subject. Suzanne McKay completes her two part article on Coat Change and Inge Shears entertains us with a story about her Staycation with her husband Jim and their two Havanese, Ellie and Miko. Swimming with Dogs by Darlah Potechin was written based on her own experiences. She has been swimming with her Havanese their entire lives, including with the puppies. Next up is the conclusion to a tragic story, A Final Report on Destiny Havanese and Liz (Vargo) Tustin, written by Stephen Huba. I’ve also included links to the actual court agreement and information pertaining to it, all up on our web site. “It came in like a lion, but why a lion?” continues the story of Saki, Tak and their newest addition, Lily by Lyndall Fry written as always from the viewpoint of Saki. Wendy Allenby continues to bring us up to date on things happening in the U.K. including Cruft’s. I managed to get a photo sent to me of Wendy actually showing her own dog, Jazmine, at Crufts and have included it with her article. (Thanks Sue) Next up is our second feature article on Crufts Toy and Utility Day by Sue Edwards, photos by Sue and Richie Edwards including our cover photo. The Road to the National Agility Championships – A Havanese Journey is written by Jennifer Creswell as she competes in Agility with her Havanese. Estimating the Breeding Value of a Dog was written by Carol Beuchat PhD is more geared towards a Breeder. It isn’t specific to our breed but certainly an informative read. Tom Wettlaufer’s article is titled What is Hit? I couldn’t just leave it so I put the explanation in brackets (Herding Instinct Test) before one of you started correcting our grammar. Last but certainly not least Scott Tomassi once again brings as an article on Westminster from his ring side view as well as two other shows that are usually held one after the next at that time, The 2015 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, Progressive Toy Club Show and GNYHC Independent Specialty. As always throughout the magazine are various dog spots filled with your contributions, photos of Havanese sent in to us from literally around the world. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I do. The Havanese Breed magazine is devoted to the breed, and remains independent of any club. Every second month we bring you great articles, information, advice, humor, and guidance on a wide variety of subjects, concerns, training, nutrition, breeding, care, shows and products from a half a dozen countries all a part of the greater Havanese community.
