Tattoo for identification

Has anyone had any experience with getting their dog tattooed for identification? Sheba is microchipped, but of course, that is not visible.

I think it's pretty common in Canada. I don't know anyone personally in the Us who does it.

yeah its gone the way of the dinosaur. Just make sure to test it at your vets from time to time.

That's a really good idea to have the chip tested.

They also migrate, and sometimes can't be found for that reason.

They aren't painless. And they still aren't a sure bet. They can fade and become unreadable over time too.

I also just wouldn't want to disfigure my dog.
