Is she confused?

So, I'm wondering if Shadow is confused or if this is just another "Hav thing". She will often wash her face by licking her paw and then rub it on her face, just the way a cat does. I don't recall any of our past dogs doing this. Is this normal for a Hav? Do any of you have one that does this or do I have a dog that thinks she's a cat?

Leslie,
LOL, I have always said that Havanese are 1/3 rabbit (all the hopping and jumping they do), 1/3 canine (that is obvious) and 1/3 feline (how they play so cat like). I would say the 1/3 feline part is showing up in Shadow.

I don't think it is anything to worry about, enjoy the way she entertains you.

Kathy, thats funny. Goldie hops all the time in the backyard. If she is chasing a rabbit, she starts hopping just like them. I guess she has all the 1/3rds in her.

Leslie, is her hair getting in her eye? My dogs do that after I clean their face or if their hair is in their eyes (or if they are trying to remove a ponytail!).

Kimberly, I have noticed the hair in her eyes, at times, but she will do it at other times. She is the 1st Hav I've ever been around, so I'm still learning about all their wonderful traits

Kathy, I love the 1/3 analogy. She does seem to have a bit of all three mixed in. The feline part seems to be exceptionally strong in her. Besides the face washing, she loves to play with and chase strings (just like Gucci). She will also sneak up and pounce on her toys. It's funny, when we got her we thought she'd be good at helping to keep a few of the neighborhood cats away. They think our yard is their litter box HA! So much for that thinking. She just runs up to them and wants to be friends.

I am so enjoying this forum. It's great to have a place to go to get my questions answered (no matter how silly) by such knowledgeable people. Thanks guys, you're awesome!

My husband always said that Tripp reminds him of a cat. He licks his paws too & rubs his face like that. But i think he is usually getting hair out of his face. I guess Tripp is part bunny to-he hops all over the place & i just LOVE watching him do that.
Dreamer doesnt do any of that....
