mighty mutts

yesterday, in canada, we celebrated canada day, something like the july 4th celebration.
locally, we have a 'silly summer parade' every year. it's good fun and i often run into lots of old friends, and i also always take a camera. (check my flickr if you like).

anyway, one of the paraders was a local pet store and they has a bunch of little dogs walking along in the parade.
afterwards i started to talk to some of the dog owners and discovered that we have a local 'meet up' group called the mighty mutts. a group of owners of small dogs and they have regular meet ups, in a large outdoor but fenced area just for dogs under 15 pounds!!
no larger dogs allowed or aggressive dogs so it's as safe a place as one could hope for.
i am in the process of joining, it's a bit complicated with registration forms, photos, i.d., vet certified for shots etc.

i hope it turns out to be what i hope for, friendly folks and pups and a place where my 2 can run like h*ll and be safe.

and i met another hav yesterday who is also a mighty mutt.

That sounds like a wonderful group. BTW, a late Happy Canada Day; I have many friends in Canada and they always remind of the day.

OH, I forgot to mention how cute your two are; does the one with the short clip have spotted skin? I ask as one of mine was recently shaved and I was surprised to see how spotted his skin was. He is mostly white so I wasn't expecting all those gray spots.

Hi Joe, my fellow Canuck. Where abouts are you from.? Sounds like a wonderful group. Just make sure to introduce yours slowly ,one at a time. Don't overwhelm them . Great idea though. Have fun.

dave, i'm in the west, in edmonton.
you think it's best to only take one at a time?
my female hates to be alone, usually always with me or the male.
they spend their days alone together in their own room.

chere, they both have longer hair now and are in desperate need of a hair cut. i may have finally found a new groomer. i think kaylie, the black & white, had some spots on her belly but the memory is fuzzy.

yeah Joe ,you can have your two together ,but only introduce one of the other dogs at a time. Give them some time together before you intro another one.

Joe - great to hear that you are connecting in the "dog world" - that alternative universe that I never knew existed until I brought Lola into my life. It's a whole new world. Have fun!
