Where's myů?

I've been discovering bits and pieces of my possessions all over the house. Sheba doesn't limit her petty theft to socks anymore. She steals anything that's not nailed downůemory boards, sunglass cases, old receipts, candy wrappers. When I weed the garden, she steals the weeds. Today I caught her happily clicking away on the clicker I use during training sessions. What the heck, Sheba! Anybody else have a little robber? Any ideas on how to limit this?

Yup. Kodi went through that phase too. (Pixel doesn't appear to be quite there yet, but I suspect it's coming! ) The good news is that it DID wane with age. It's just a management issue in the mean time.

Kodi will STILL steal kleenex (preferrably used ) if given the opportunity. Just last week, he got into my pocketbook and stole one of those little packages of kleenex. I didn't notice, and at the end, he brought me the last one and gave it to me. But in the mean time, he shredded all the rest and ate several.

Molly has jumped up on the recliner and grabbed things off of my end table. I have found her with my reading glasses, a pen, and of course kleenex. I am trying to be more careful about leaving anything on there. Thank God she doesn't go after the tv remote!

This morning I stole the weekly newspaper (hey we live in a small town) that had just arrived. I was in the process of shredding it under the sofa when Popi caught mi. He was NOT pleased! Like chill out Popi!

Some of mi favorite things to steal are the plastic bottle caps from a water bottle when left on an end table. They are just delicious! I also like to steal Momi's toothbrush when she is careless and leaves it out. I'm supposed to brush my tooths two, right?!!!!! Oh, you aren't supposed to eat the toothbrush afterward?

Yep, we little Havanese are the kleptodogiacs of the animal kingdom. If anything is missing, the first place Momi and Popi look is under the bed or sofa.

Couple of days ago, Momi was emptying some jelly beans into a bowl and one of them rolled onto the floor! I'm a magician two....."now you see it, now you don't!" Momi said, "Popi should we take him to the vet!?" Popi said, "No, but I'd like to pump his stomach with a vacuum cleaner hose!!!" Not funny Popi!

Koko, is also contemplating a life of crime, but I have a good solution that I have implemented with a Cardigan that also has criminal tendencies. I ransom my stuff. Al (the Cardigan) was quite clear very early on that he was going to swipe my stuff, so I started training him that anything he found was worth a cookie and a lot of praise. As a result, he brings me stuff to see if it's worth ransoming. I will pay for pretty much anything that's not one of his toys. He's 11 years old now, and still, each day, I allow him to ransom three random items. Everyone in the house knows that they, too will get cookies when Al brings me his prizes. Koko has caught on very quickly and has started a ransom program of her own. I happily allow it because if she's going to swipe stuff anyway (and she is), at least I get it back rather than find it destroyed somewhere under a table!

Scout is a very good boy. He has never shredded anything. Truffles is the opposite and loves anything paper. I can't leave any packages delivered on the floor because she will chew through the box. I have to be careful with cottonballs because those are her favorite. She loves to tear them apart and scatter them around the house.

Oh my gosh! Nothing is safe in my house! I've had to put everything up off the floor or on a high table. Just like having a toddler!

Milo's weakness is socks. He steals from my laundry pile and the whole household has to look high and low to find a pair
Marley will take anything he can find- shoes seem to be a favorite, which is new for me because Milo has never been interested in shoes. Between the two of them, we will all end up in bare feet this summer. Lol
