New Crate?

I was wondering if I should get a new crate/kennel for Hobbes. When he came home at 7 months I had him in a vari kennel at night. He still goes in and curls up so small at 4 years old and 20 pounds. He enjoys that it's dark inside I think. I have the door off now and when I bring him downstairs at night he goes right in and falls back asleep.
The thing is he can't really stretch out inside of it. My DH says it's no problem cause the doors off and he can lay outside of it. I know thats true but..... ok crazy right? Why spend money on a new crate if the old one is fine or why change what he's used too? DH is right... right??

Do you ever close the door on your pup when you go off and he is left alone? If so, I would think your pup needs another crate.

If your pup is happy, then so are you!

Get a bigger crate from Petsmart. Don't take off the tags and save the receipt. See if Hobbes likes the new crate for a night or two. If not, return it back. Petsmart shouldn't have a problem with it.

If he always has the option of going in or out and you aren't confining him in it I don't think there's any reason to buy a larger one. He must like it in there!

I think you could all benefit from another crate.
He needs a place to go and need be you need to be able to close the door with him having enough room to lounge around in there.

I guess he really doesn't "need" a new one but I love the idea of trying the petsmart one. The door isn't off because he doesn't fit, it just was made it easier for us to walk past it since he only uses it as a house now without being locked in.
thanks
