How does your hav greet you as you enter the door?

Mine both used to jump up and down and sort of sing with delight. Riki has just started getting his toy to show me also hoping I'll throw it. Daisy sill jumps up and down and sings her strange song.

It is funny now that Riki has changed his ways. I think Daisy is playing with him less as she is getting more and more to be a gentle girl who likes laps and naps! So Riki went back to being the "only" dog by having his toys again.

He even tries to take his dog on walks...the stuffed dog is almost as big as he is and looks like him. If I don't throw it for him, he will toss it and play with it for long periods of time.

When I comb them, I always treat them afterwards. Riki is running to get his toy instead of waiting for a treat. I think he would rather me throw the toy dog than eat!

What do you dogs do when you come home?

They crowd the doorway so it's hard to get in and spin in circles. Both stand on their back legs pawing at me...I LOVE IT!!! I know we're supposed to discourage that kind of behavior but I think it's sweet.

I keep it low key when I leave and when I come home. The girls (the Havs) do run to the door when I come home but then they run to the family room and wait until I've put all my stuff down. When I'm ready, I open my arms and they come running. They jump and lick and we have a grand time for a few minutes.
My Sheltie hasn't quite gotten the message. She barks and yips and jumps around the second I'm in the door. I'm trying to teach her to wait like the Havs do until I'm ready to greet them but she hasn't quite gotten the message, silly girl. It's funny, the only time she barks is when someone comes in the door or when I'm preparing her food. Never any other time. Weird for a Sheltie, I think.

Mimi practically throws herself at me when I get home...

If I am the one that takes her out of her crate, she jumps and licks on my legs all the way to the backyard sliding door.

If I come home and she is in the living room, she will jump and dance, until I ask her to sit. I will then pet her and she slowly rolls over for belly rubs!

It funnier to see her greet DH! She begs him to love her!!

My dogs stand up on their back legs and paw at me when I get home. They won't let you be til you acknowledge them. I have to take Miley outside right away, cause she gets so excited that she often "pees a little". Wish everyone was THAT happy to see me! But I do look forward to seeing them at the end of my work day. They act like I'm the best thing since sliced bread!

Renee, Miley, & Copper too!

I am bombared with kisses. Like Ann, I know I should discourage the jumping up but I can't, better yet, I won't. Why I chose a Hav instead of a lab or other large breed. Evye has to run and find a toy to bring it to me and dances around with her toy. I am kissed to death for about 5 minutes, and I love it.

I love it too!

When Alana and Perry are coming, they seem to know it as soon as they turn in the driveway. They bark a weird bark that isn't the one for strangers or other dogs on the street. It is sort of a combination bark/sneeze if that makes sense!

They wait at the top of the stairs (as our living area is upstairs and the door down) and then run like crazy down the steps to greet them. Daisy with her whining singing, and Riki with his toy.

Then they run upstairs and go to their favorite spots after they settle down! They are silly!

If guests come over, they have to notice them or the dogs will not settle down. Once the guest is allowing them in their laps and to be kissed, then they go about their business as usual. But they MUST be noticed!

Not a good dog to have or to visit if you aren't a fan of dogs! Kisses aren't big and sloppy, they are petite and few! If Daisy has a chew bone, she will get it out and wag her tail while putting her paws on your shoulder. It is her prize and she is proud of it!

If I'm lying on the couch Murphy jumps up right by my head, stands on my chest and gives kisses! Scooter jumps onto the couch and waits to be loved but Murphy just can't get close enough and I love it. He loves to look people right in the face and be petted on his back. Scoot gets his pats and then lies down against my leg.

These little quirks are what make them so special to me and I wouldn't change a thing even if it's not the "correct" way to behave. It's impossible for me to put into words how much I love these little dogs, they're just amazing.

Ann, this is so completely true. All I have to do is say his name or get up, and he is right there. Daisy will actually stay put because she isn't as vigilant. I think Riki "protects" me at times. That's a guy for you.
