White Hav Can't Jump

My aunt Chrissie brought over her little yorkie Sceeter last weekend to play with Lucy. I am always happy to get another small dog to play with Lucy since she is a smaller Hav weighing in at barely 6 lbs.

Sceeter was in our house for no more than 10 minutes before he jumped up onto our couch. Actually it was more of a leap ... flying through the air and landing on our couch. My mouth dropped open in amazement. Lucy has never jumped like that...ever. In fact we finally bought some stairs for her a couple of months ago.

Is Lucy the only Hav that can't jump or is this common? I do see her do some good leaps out running in the yard but for some reason she won't even attempt to jump up onto the couch. It doesn't occur to her that this is possible. She seemed very confused at how sceeter got up there. It was very cute.

Milo has never tried to jump up on anything either. He finally started to jump down after I got Bailey but even if I have a box next to the sofa and he could take an interim step up and then an easy step onto the cushion after that, he just stands up and cries till I pick him up. Bailey on the other hand has been sailing through the air since he was a puppy. They're all different.

Just Milo and me, and . . . Bailey makes three . . . until Ruby said, "hey, what about me?"

Bella is two this month and she's just now beginning to jump up on furniture. When she was 2 months old and came to live with us, we had a 3 year old French poodle come for a visit. I never saw a poodle jump so high so fast as she did just to get away from our puppy! Bella was so frustrated. She never calmed down because the poodle never came down. There were two different personalities at work!

Kodi will jump up to sit with me, or to look out the window, but is not a "jumper". Shelby loves to jump. She jumps over toys, other dogs, whatever is in her way. Her latest thing is jumping up on the coffee table to sleep. I think she saw the cat do it and thought it was a good thing. But she will not jump off my bed and Kodi will.

Oh, you think so! Only kidding. I think she likes it because it is a glass top and always cool (she runs hot). Also, she can see the other dogs walking by and tries to attack them from above. So, I guess it is cute.

When I was writing that I thought that it would be a problem when you were entertaining or had food on that table! Our two are so mellow. They like to sleep and don't play that much. But then, my father with Alzheimer's is living with us and Bella needs to be on her leash in the house so we can keep her from making my dad trip. I guess the house isn't so much fun for her any more.

I still laugh when I see Bella acting like a cat.

Scooter, our chocolate, can jump but Murphy can't. He's 6 months old and just learned to jump onto the couch in the last month or so. Scooter can jump as high as the kitchen counter top though.

Linus amazes us with his jumping ability. He is tiny but springy.
