(Video) Treat sticks fit perfectly in Kong, dog brushes own teeth

I'd been looking for something to put in Rory's Kongs beside peanut butter and found a soft chew treat stick that fits perfectly but is nice and hard for her to work out, so she spends numerous hours with a healthy chew that cleans her teeth - instead of making quick work of a peanut butter filled Kong.

The Natural Value treat stick is 100% natural, and grain, soy, wheat, and gluten free. Made in USA.

You can see the video on Havanese World.

Thanks so much for this. I'll definitely try it. For future reference, if you freeze the peanut butter filled Kong it lasts way longer.

That's a great idea for filling Kongs and providing entertainment and chewing value. But the only way to REALLY keep a dog's teeth clean is to brush them regularly.

Gracias Tio Gary for the tip on the chews. But I have mi doubts about them lasting "numerous hours" , at least for mi. I GUARANTEE that I could empty the Kong in the video in less than 10 minutos! Mi Popi has tried all kinds of things - frozen and unfrozen but nothing lasts very long with an aggressive and ALWAYS hungry chewer like Ricky Ricardo.

besos, Ricky Ricardo

Yes, and the article says: "This is not suggested to replace your normal brushing regimen, just to augment your dog’s dental hygiene program in a way your dog will enjoy."

Ricky, I think you may miscalculate, amigo! So this is not kibble that will fall out, or peanut butter that you can lick out - it's jammed in there and you have to gnaw like the dickens to work it out.

You should have your peoples give it a try.

Aww! I was hoping Rory would make a cameo while eating the treat.

Daisy has never been interested in anything I've stuffed into a Kong whether it's peanut butter, wet food, or her kibble. I'm gonna give this a shot and see if it works. Otherwise, maybe she just doesn't like the Kong in general? Thanks for sharing!

Love and fluffy hugs,
Lina and Daisy

I would have had Rory make a cameo but she takes it and chews it on the bed, which meant I would have had to make the bed perfectly

For a long time I couldn't understand the utility of the Kong, I figured they were a by-product of some industrial extrusion process and somebody was making a fortune selling what was just manufacturing waste. Still not sure that isn't the case . . .

I second this! Would love to see Rory in action, gnawing away. I promise I won't notice the bed (made or unmade) if Rory's in the video
