R.I.P. Ted Kennedy

I just heard about Ted Kennedy's death. He has been a Washington staple forever for me. Regardless of anyone's political views, here's a man who dedicated his life to public service and family. My sympathies to his famiily, especially havng just lost Eunice.

It's very sad. The news ran a clip of his from the 70's where he was talking about health care. Even back then he realized that the system needs to be fixed and he never gave up on it, even until the end.

being from Massachusetts this is very sad. I agree regardless of politics (and his foibles) he was the real deal...in it because he wanted things to be better for everyone. We will miss you Ted.

Ted Kennedy

I am so sorry he didn't live to see health care enacted.
But I am grateful for his service to our country throughout the years.
He worked hard to help the "regular" people.
I'm originally from Massachusetts and admired and appreciated him.

"The commitment I seek is not to outworn views but to old values that will never wear out. Programs may sometimes become obsolete, but the ideal of fairness always endures. Circumstances may change, but the work of compassion must continue.

"It is surely correct that we cannot solve problems by throwing money at them, but it is also correct that we dare not throw out our national problems onto a scrap heap of inattention and indifference. The poor may be out of political fashion, but they are not without human needs. The middle class may be angry, but they have not lost the dream that all Americans can advance together."
From the 1980 Democratic National Convention

I just got back with my dogs from the dog park where Ted and his wife Vicki walked their Portugese Water dogs. The local NBC news affiliate was there taping what the Senator's fellow dog lovers had to say about the man. He was one great gentleman - dedicated to the country, people in need, his large extended family, and, of course, like us, his dogs. If you're in the DC metro area, you may be able to see Paco and Luke on the local news!!!
