Choking

I just had the scariest thing happen about half an hour ago. Lucky started choking on a treat. He was making these horrible gagging noises and gasping for air. I panicked and didn't know what to do so I just got on the floor with him and was stroking him telling him he would be ok. Thankfully within 2 or 3 minutes (seemed like an eternity) he vomited the treat up and stopped choking. God forbid this happen to Lucky or anyone elses baby, but I just printed up instructions on what to do if your dog is choking and I'm going to tape it on the inside of my kitchen cabinet. I can't figure out how to post the Word document with the easiest instructions I could find (it's saying the file is too large) so PM me if you want a copy of it. My theory is it's better to be safe than sorry.

OH, how really scary! Thanks for the link, I wouldn't have the faintest idea what to do. What kind of treat was it? I'm asking as I am wondering if it is something we should all avoid giving or if it was just one of those weird things that can happen.

I've had to give our older dog the heimlich maneuver a few times. The first time he choked it was terrifying as I wasn't sure what to do. I held him upside down and slapped his back until he spit it out. I then read up on what to do should it happened again.
Scary!
