Stuck!

Moji somehow managed to wriggle through the narrow slats and then got stuck ... It took about twenty minutes to set her free ... She wasn't hurt at all, but the anxiety was really high! ...

Has anyone else's puppy been in a similar fix?

That looks horrifying! I don't know how you got her out.....I've had little pups get their heads stuck in gates. The squealing is very unnerving. Fortunately, no one has ever been truly stuck.

How scary!!! It's good you didn't panic. I would be calling the fire department!

Moji never made a sound, and to be honest at first glance I didn't know she'd gotten stuck, because the space between the slats is a bit narrow (4" wide), who would have thought it possible? ...

Earlier in the day she'd found a way to jump from the chair to the tabletop (she's extremely agile), and to discourage that behavior I turned the back of the chair to be flush with the table's edge ... I left the room and a few minutes later when I returned I saw she had her paws on the table and I began to say "Moji, down!" and that's when I realized she was stuck! ...

It was a terrifying situation ... I couldn't pull her straight through ... I took the picture in a moment of despair when I thought I'd have to show it to the vet online and ask for suggestions ... She was very calm and let me try different ways to extract her ... After a while I found that if I pushed one leg close to her body and then gently pulled back, I could free that leg ... Then we did the other leg and suddenly she was free ...

Just wondering how big Moji is? Tomorrow they are installing the cables on the new balcony and now I am concerned.

She weighs about 12.5 pounds, I think of her as on the small side, but then there aren't many Havanese in the neighborhood, so I don't really know ...

I also grew concerned and went out into the enclosed garden and of course began to see all kinds of spaces in the fencing where I imagined she could wiggle through, and which I hadn't noticed before ...

She must have really wanted to get up on that table, and I still can't see how she squeezed through the slats without hurting herself ...

Very important to remain calm in this situation.
Glad all worked out - I see why she was nervous. Poor little sweetie.
Belly rubs from me. Send that vet a thank you note !!

I'm glad you got your little one free. For those with this problem, there are Puppy Bumpers! Puppy Bumpers | Puppy Bumpers keep dogs from getting out of fences! Also available on Amazon and possibly at local pet supply stores
