New to the Forum

HI!

We're new to the Forum and I had a question about our new little girl!

First, let me tell you alittle about us! We have three beautiful and wonderful Havanese dogs! Sunshine is 5 1/2 and we've had her since she was 12 weeks old, Skippy is 3 1/2 and we have had him since he was 8 weeks old! A week and half ago, we adopted Jaime from HRI, she is 6 years old. Of course, they are all just the sweetest and most wonderful little dogs! We just have enjoyed Sunshine and Skippy so much since we got them and they are just so much fun and so good with our boys. We have two sons, 9 & 5! Therefore, about 6 months ago, we decided we wanted a third but didn't want a puppy again. I did some research and was so drawn to HRI! Like I said, we adopted Jaime a week and half ago and it has been one of the best decisions we could have made.

Jaime is just such a jewel! I can't begin to tell you how sweet and how special she is! We feel blessed that she is now part of the family! The three of them are still working out their issues and I'm assuming this will take some time but I can already see small bonding steps between the three of them.

I realize now, how different it is to raise them from puppies and adopting as a mature adult! One thing that Jaime does that is very curious to me is that whenever, she is very excited (ie. when she sees me after I have been out), she spins around in circles, sometimes twice, sometimes 5, 6 times. She also seems to do this when I'm giving either Sunshine or Skippy attention.

Did I mention, Jaime is very attached to me, I am never out of her sight and she is never more then 2 feet away from me!

I'm thinking that this circling may just be her way of dealing with some form of stress! I'm sure for the next 6 months, I'll see new and interesting behavors from her, but I thought I would ask!

Thanks!
Patty

HI Patty and welcome. Thank you so much for adopting one of our little HRI rescues. You are an angel to open your heart for Jaime. It could be a stress reaction, or just a why for her to burn of some excitement. It could also be an attention getter. I would imagine that most would laugh and oh isn't she just so cute while she is spinning. I'm not familiar with Jaime's story. The HRI website has tons of information. http://www.havaneserescue.com/index....&Itemid=200029

Also I am sure that whoever fostered Jaime would love to hear from you if you have any questions.

Thank you again, HRI needs more angels.

Blessings, Luna and the girls

Hey Patty! Welcome to the forum.

While the circling isn't something you see in a lot of Havs, it isn't uncommon either. I'd just consider it Jaime's way of say, "I'm right here Mom! I love you! Look at me!" She sounds like a gem. She may never stop the circling and I think that's okay. It's a Jaime trait.

Thank you! I think that since I haven't been a part of Jaime's life, if I see something that is different from Sunshine and Skippy, I immediately get concerned that there could be something wrong! She is such a gem and honestly the sweetest and has the most gentle and loving personality! We just all adore her so much! I'm sure as time goes on, we will all relax more and feel more comfortable with each other!

Patty!!! What a nice little crew you have, and it is so great to know that you rescued Jaime. Sounds like she's doing very well with your family.

Riki is a circle-kid

If he is happy and wants to go outside or eat, he does happy circles. I think it is adorable.

I thought Jaime was lovely, thank you for adopting her...

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!
