Huge happy surprise!

I own a Havanese and a toy poodle and we walk them through our small town frequently. A couple in their seventies (late) stopped us a couple of times to ooh and ahh over our toy poodle. They had lost one about a year ago and were missing it terribly but didn't know if they wanted another puppy. We talked about how the breeder of Simone has retired but I would search for another one. They wanted toy and it had to be black like ours. I forward some information to them and discovered they had never had a pure bred registered dog. I contacted them the other day and they just got back to me. They bought a black Havanese! They were taken by Chico and how calm he is and how sweet. They did some research and bought one of Elite' Havanese's puppys. They get it in October and we are as excited as we are. We will lend them our xpen. The puppy is called Cash as it took all their spare; money to buy him.

Sounds like Chico, Simone and Cash will be fast playmates! Enjoy!

A friend of mine is getting a male Havanese from Bev at Elite in October, too! I wonder if they are littermates?
She is so excited about getting her puppy. I've seen the 3-week old pictures and they are very cute.

Probably, Cash is mostly black, there are some blond puppies and a mostly white with a black mask. It is one of these ones?

Hmmm, maybe not.
"Bailey" is a blonde male and was born August 4th. There were some girls (2 or 3?) in his litter and 4 boys. There was a black girl as I recall, but the girls are not on the puppies page anymore as they're sold. I think Marianne picks up Bailey on October 11th, at 9 weeks old. (The remaining boys are blondes, too.)
There was another litter born August 27th. Would that be Cash's litter? These puppies wouldn't be available until the first week of November, though.

Yep, same litter, different pick up times. It would be a mad house if all the new owners came on the same day. Cash's people are hoping to find enough owners on the island that we can Havanese days. Do you think Gail or Bev would give out names and phone numbers? There has to be a few more on the island even though we never see them out and about.

I've been 'putting my hand down' from volunteering to organize an Island Havanese get together, having just come off a huge quilt show as the publicity person.... But, I've also been itching to get together with other Havanese owners & dogs on the Island. I think it would be a lot of fun and really important to share walk options, grooming tips, ideas for food sources...etc. I've checked out the other 'get togethers' on this forum, but haven't gotten any ideas re how to organize one. (Ditto another dog forum I'm a member of.)
I'd love to have ideas about what happens on a get together...other than just a walk. And, I'd love suggestions for where to walk together. (I'll have a look at blogs for our area.) I think the typical Elk/Beaver Lake walk might be too far for many people....maybe somewhere further north like Mill Bay or Duncan area....what do you think???
So....YES!!! Let's ask Bev & Gail for names if possible....and, I will put my hand up to see how to get in touch with Havanese owners on the Lower Island....with Bev & Gail sending puppy owners my/our e-mail address...I think it will need to be a reverse notice thing??? We're in Canada, so Freedom Of Information may apply.
I would love to meet and greet....and encourage Freestyle and Agility for Havanese...as well as PATS... since our sweet babies are so suited to all of these...
See, you've unleashed a monster....I would like to work on a get together in any form....
What are your ideas & suggestions? If you would like to e-mail me privately, we can work on it.
ALSO....it's starting to be our Fall 'Wet Coast' Weather....so, maybe our get together should be in the Spring??? If you're thinking October, we should get busy, don'tcha think???

ps: Any suggestions from others re how or what to do on a Havanese Day would be most welcome!!!

We should wait until Cash and your friends puppies are old enough to go so I think spring time would be great. The only thing I have been involved in (dog wise ) is flyball so we need some ideas from other people. By the way I am also a quilter, so maybe some Monday when the Cowichan Valley group meet you might consider coming up with your dog.
