Rico introduces Havanese Jester block from Hats Off to Havanese

Rico is a sweet and gentle boy, who will turn 4 in August. He loves to play with other dogs but can easily entertain himself, too. Rico is a beautiful silver color with a curly coat, soft as silk.

Rico loves all people and children and prefers to have someone around most of the time. He's doing great in his foster family's busy house, he loves all the people coming and going. Everyone that meets Rico loves him. He's a lap lover and a snuggler, too.

He would like a family that is home much of the time or that can take him along when they travel ( he's great in the car). Rico loves going out on his foster dad's boat, too!

Rico is in great health, chipped, up to date on his vaccines, and has even had his teeth cleaned. He does have wobbly knees sometimes, the vet says grade 2 luxating patellas. They do not cause him pain, he stands and walks on his rear legs, jumps on and off furniture, goes up and down stairs. The vet recommends that Rico be given a joint supplement to prevent any future

Rico is being fostered in CA. He would like to introduce you to:
Kathy Berrena's Square-- "Havanese Jester"
Any havanese I have ever met is an entertainer. They all have such endearing personalities that only wish to please and make their humans happy.

Hershey introduces Pulling a Havanese out of a hat!

Hi! I'm Hershey - all milk chocolate and white! I'm 16 months old, 12 pounds of energy and ready for obedience school and new tricks.

I don't like to walk on the grass so I try to use the driveway when you're not watching. I'm a true house dog, preferring to be inside where it is cool - although I do love to go on walks. I even have good walking manners. I keep wondering if I wasn't meant to live in a city?

My foster mom and dad have been teaching me the rules of "good behavior" which I never knew about before. I'm beginning to learn that it is okay to run and play fetch, and not get in trouble at the same time. My ideal family will have older, busy kids and maybe another dog so that there is always activity. I'm ready for anything!
Hershey is being fostered in MI and wants to introduce a little havanese magic! The Forum Square was made by Linda Okimoto and shows another chocolate havanese making some magic as the Ace of all Hearts!

To learn more about Hershey or how to win the Forum Quilt, go to www.havaneserescue.com

You will be glad you did!

Sampson wants to introduce you to Hats Off to Havanese Santa Paws

Sampson is about 8yrs old and an extremely loving and gentle soul. His owner recently passed, but it's apparent that she enveloped him in love. He's very mellow by nature and the perfect couch potato that prefers laps and won't leave your side. is housetrained for the most part, and like most rescue dogs he just needs time to adjust. His fostermom is spoiling him, and allows him to sleep on her bed at night where he gives her little kisses in the middle of the night. He loves going on walks and gets along with other dogs.

Sampson is a very easy to love boy and is wishing for a home with older children or a single person that can give him constant loving.

Sampson is being fostered in CO. Sampson wants to introduce you to: Katie Say's "Santa Paws"

The inspiration for my block is obviously the big guy himself---Santa Paws!

Won't someone make this guy's dreams come true: www.havaneserescue.com

Jamm introduces Kodi at the Costume Party

Jamm is a 2-year old female mix who weighs 21lbs. Initially she was shy and timid, but within her first week of foster care, she has proven to be one of the sweetest and gentlest dogs ever.

Jamm plays well with children and other dogs. She loves all toys, especially if they make sound. She is crate-trained -- sleeping in the crate at night without a peep and crating during the day when her foster mom has to be away for any period of time. She has yet to have an ‘accident’ in the house. She enjoys being indoors or out, always with an adult companion and supervision.

Jamm is very affectionate, yet not a ‘lap dog’ per se. She is content lying on the floor quietly as her foster parents watch television, read or work. She is not afraid during thunder storms, nor does she bark excessively. Jamm is working on basic commands and obedience. She is very eager to please and loves treats, so this has proven to be very simple. Already, when told to ‘go to bed’ she crates herself.

Jamm has a long history of being the expert escape artist with her ability to scale a 5-foot fence. Her new family will need to have a very tall, secure fence, and always be diligent in watching her. As soon as she gets a good dental cleaning, she’ll be ready for her forever home!
Jamm will make a wonderful addition for some lucky family.

Jamm is being fostered in Texas and would like to introduce the Forum Quilt Square by Michele Raiola!

Kodi is used to me putting hats on him. At one of the costume party playdates Kodi was good and kept his hat on. The background reminds me of the wonderful day we had in Laurie's beautiful backyard. She has many flower pots around the yard,so I added one to the block.

Thanks for supporting HRI! www.havaneserescue.com

Macy introduces We Love Tug O War from Hats Off to Havanese

Macy is a funny 3 yr old girl, not small by any means, as she is a large Hav-mix and weighs about 25lbs. She has begun to warm up to people and wants so badly to join into the action but is still very cautious.

She has begun to enjoy her daily walks and is finding a world outside of a cage, is very interesting. She will not be a "sit on the lap" type dog, but in the right setting, she will eventually feel safe enough to come when called and be petted.

Macy would be happy in a family with another young dog that she can play with and learn trust from. She recently gave her fostermom her first "kiss", Macy knows that HRI will find her that loving, patient fur-ever room soon!

Macy is being fostered in CO and is pleased to introduce the Forum Square made by Sandi Austin, We love tug of war......."What do you mean it's not a toy?"

Check out Sandy's square and others from the Hats Off To Havanese Quilt on www.havaneserescue.com

Let people know about Macy too!

Bianca introduces Dressing for a Victorian Tea!

Blanca has mastered cuddling, entertaining, devotion and spellbinding in her mere 2 years. Her favorite place in the world is lying in her foster dad's lap getting bellyrubs and listening to him tell her how precious she is.

Blanca gets along fine with other dogs, is housetrained and will soon be looking for that perfect home with a fenced in yard, where she is treated like the special Havie-Princess she really is.

Blanca is being fostered in OH and would like to introduce you to Hats Off to Havanese Square by Jocelyn Hartman "Dressing for a Victorian Tea"

My quilt block was inspired by a picture of my chocolate havanese "Cocotini". Cocotini loves to dress up (although nothing quite as elaborate as this outfit)! I used fabric paints to create Coctini's face, vintage laces to accent her hat and collar and shabby chic type fabrics to give it a vintage feel.

Charlie in CA introduces Rescue Train!

Charlie is a handsome 15 lb 5 year old Havanese with a loving and charming personality that will win your heart at "Hello".

He is an affectionate boy who loves people and attention. Charlie knows most of his commands: sit, stay, come and will generally show you his dance moves for a tasty treat. If you enjoy walking, he will be your companion and truck along beside you. When someone comes to the door, Charlie will sound the alarm just long enough to alert anyone that you have a special friend and let you know he approves by giving them a hug.

Charlie is a mellow guy who loves to just lounge and be with you. He is looking for a loving and caring dog lover who will give him attention and affection. He is a wonderful dog and his foster family reports that Charlie has been a real joy to care for.

Charlie would be best suited in a home where there are no young children, but he gets along fine with other dogs and even likes cats.

Charlie is proud to introduce Hat's Off to Havanese square by Geri Sonkin "Rescue Train"...Everett, the engineer travels the countryside 365 days a year. He's on a mission. Wherever he goes, when his train whistle blows, piercing the silent landscape, all the lost, abandoned, mistreated, lonely and injured animals line up, knowing their struggles are finally over. This very special train is here to take them home, where they'll never be hungry, they'll always be warm and they will be loved and cared for . . . forever.
